2008 xB Earns GOOD Rating from IIHS
Those of you new xB drivers should be feeling pretty safe... though the previous xB generation had the same score... so the previous xB drivers are already feeling safe.

Today, the IIHS announced the two newest members of the "good" club. The Volvo S80, now in its second generation and based off the EUCD platform that will soon be ushering the P2's out the door entirely, has scored a good rating for frontal collisions. Another vehicle entering its second generation, the Scion xB, has also managed to rack up a green box on the test.

I don't friggin' BELIEVE it. The cLassics weren't even tested until long after they were discontinued, and you people don't even have to wait two months.
Lucky dogs!
Oh, wait, nevermind...Toyota actually administered these tests. That's why there's no pictures - this is a new program by IIHS, where manufacturers do the tests themselves and occasionally get audited. Gotcha.
I would expect rather good side-impact ratings. Toyota is pretty good at adapting their vehicles in response to safety issues.............or, should I say, in response to PERCEIVED safety issues, since the side-impact test everybody remembers is the one that's roughly equivalent to being slammed with a wrecking ball. Lest everyone forget that in the government-administered side-impact test, the 2006 xB earned three-star front-seat rating, and four-star rear-seat rating.
Anyway, after IIHS first started doing offset frontal tests and Dateline showed the Previa dissolving into a blob of crumpled metal, the very next year's Sienna was the Institute's Best Performer Evar Omglol. So feel confident as you pull in front of Expeditions. ;)
btw...lawl, reclassified as a small car
so much for "Siphon" ;)

This topic seems like it should definitely be on the Gen 2 board.
Nobody's seeing it here, and the Gen 1 IIHS results generated much more conversation when they were allowed to stay on the main board.
This just seems like information that people should have access to.
