Default Wire Wheels on the xB..

Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site but its very informative with all the how to's.

My first project with the xB is managing to put on some wire wheels a set of 18X8 's to be exact. The only problem I'm facing is the wires on the rim is getting caught with the caliper. It's about 1/4" in on the caliper, so I've seen people shave the caliper in order for these wire wheels to fit.

Now I'm looking at an alternative option like using spacers to prevent shaving the calipers. The problem with using the spacers is that there isn't enough thread for the bolts to securely tighten.

What are my options and what can I do without having to shave or replace my calipers with smaller ones?

Thanks,
Kev

the offset is 40 on the wheel, and it won't be dropped at all. I hope that is of some help.
When i get those on, I'm definitely posting it up here.

Well lets see if i should drop it or not,

+40 right?

get some 15 or 20mm spacers that come with thier own studs. you will be fine. thing is, an 8" +40 will rub the rim to the rear arm, iirc, you'll need spacers one way or the other.

They are OG Wire Wheels, 18x8 150 wire wheels... the thing is the offset they say vary from 35 to 45 so, am i assuming this is much similar to your player wheels?

do you have pics? my email is analogcrew@rogers.com

let me know whats up

And just so you don't end up looking like some goofy Civic drag racer with the front tires out 4 inches wider than the rear after you install those spacers, check these out: http://www.onetongarage.com/products...him/index.html

Make sure the spacers you use have the hub center lip so they run true.
The rear one ton spacers go behind the backing plates and space out the whole brake assm. You might want to use 2 sets on the rear so they will match the fronts in the end.

Reallly???? what was the offset?

by the way , thanks for all the advise everyone has been giving me, I will be putting up pics really really soon.

I'm just shopping for those rear spacers, more of where to find them in my area? If i cant find it ill resort to that website.

My next project is HID conversion and possibly change of headlights hehehe

When you say hub center lip, are you talkin about a machined trim around the spacer?

Nah, I'm talking about staying away from those cheapie spacers that are just flat where they contact the wheel. It places all the stress on the wheels studs instead of the hub center.

Not sure cause I don't use spacers? You could try googling hub centric wheel spacers for scion xB or something like that.
Or just do a serch of this site. I've seen all kinds of spacers discussed here before in this forum. It's been awhile tho but a search should turn up a few. There are some that require changing to longer studs and some that simply bolt on and have another set of wheel studs. All depends on how ya want to go???
