ok, i picked up some 18s and now the xa is feeling like an inch higher. it is good for speedbumps, but i want that look where the wheels fill in the fenderwells... some help and suggestions would be nice.

how long ago did you install the springs? They may not have settled just yet...so you're prolly not seeing the full drop of the springs

he's not referring to the drop, he's talking about how the car sits higher in general due to the increase in wheel size.

The car should not sit higher due to using larger wheels. Only if the tires used on the 18's are larger in diameter than the original tires will the car sit higher. If the tires are the correct overall diameter (same as stock) the car must sit at the same height as it did before installing the tires. To eliminate tire to fender gap you can drop it lower or use larger tires. Larger tires will make the car sit overall a touch higher but will fill the gap a little as well. I have heard many times that df 210's settle after a bit...it may indeed end up a bit lower once that happens.

she has been dropped for over a year, i am sure that the springs have settled. the tires are 215/35/18 and are seriously streched onto the 18x8s. so i do not think that it is the tires. i guess that the only thing that i can do to get it lower again is either coilovers or air. oh well, it looks and drives pretty good anyways and i don't want to sacrifice that anymore, at least not yet. maybe something from kenstyle might help the look of the drop......

write down the oem tire size, and the new tire size an look around online for a tire calculator. Then you can get their overall diameters in inches, subtract the oem inches from the new tire's inches, divide the difference by 2, and thats how much highter you'll be off the ground

ex: 30" - 28" = 2" then 2/2 = 1" higher off ground

I use this for my tire calculator: http://miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

When I plugged your tire size in and compared it to stock, the 18's are only .2" bigger in diameter.

IMO xAs have more wheel well gap then the xB. It seems like to make it look low you either have to run air or coilovers. But, it does look really clean.

With 215/35/18s the car is NOT sitting any higher. If it is slightly it's only 1/10 of an inch which is NOY noticable.
Nice stance and perfect xA drop. Enjoy and don't worry about the feeling.

I think it looks good as well; but when a man makes his mind up about his ride, he can not be convinced otherwise.

It jstt feels that way because your head is in the air because you have new baller rims. LOL.

Looks good. I agree, would look better lower, but you will lose the nice ride. Tein Basics are the way to go if on a budget. They improve handling alot, but not so harsh you can't stand it. Should give you another 1.5" drop over what you have now.

Great looking xA!
And as others have said, that tire is nearly identical in height to your stockers, so you shouldn't REALLY be any higher, probably just the difference in the aspect ratio of the tire makes it feel that way.
Enjoy it - it looks awesome!

thanks again on the +++++ comments. I've looked into some progress coilovers and possibly a kit from kenstyle to lower the stance a bit more. I am already sitting on eibach sportlines (2in drop all the way around), so either the teins or progress kit will be in the near future.

Sounds like a plan but if you drive it alot on a daily basis I would stick with the current stance but that is me.
