Hopefully he'll do some good over at Ford. They need the help. Toyota... not so much. These Toyota mostly sell themselves while the Fords nowadays need some extremely clever marketing to move.

Default He's Chris Farley's cousin!

He's Chris Farley's cousin, how did Toyota let him get away? Well if Ford can't come back with this guy then put a fork in em they're done. I predict by 2020 Ford will be no more or be owned by another car company by then.

^^^ yeah. more then likely that was Mark Templin you met at Miami. Kinda looks like the host of Americas Funniest Home Videos.

Ford must have dug deep to get a top Toyota rep to move over and work for them. Sadly though, i still dont think it will work. Its not management that is killing the domestics, its the UAW.

Good Luck to Mr. Farley ... and Mr. Templin, now whos the new guy? lol

I met mark. His office at Scion was amazing. He'll do a great job over at Lexus. Those guys working over in the Lexus building are spoiled..but them again everybody at TMS is.

i had the pleasure of meeting BOTH Farley and Templin on various occasions
wish them both continued success with their automotive careers

i'm confident that Toyota will put another highly personable and dedicated person in the position that 'gets' what Scion is all about

The new VP of Scion previously held the title of Scion's corporate manager. It's nice that somebody was chosen that was already familiar with the responsibilities!

To make it to that corperate level you have to be driven and be challenged. Right now I don't see a lot of challenge for toyota execs. Sure they have to keep on their game to remain in the spot they are in but a guy like Farley, I would guess, would love a challenge like turning ford around. Plus like previously said, he is getting a huge check. Good for him.

Toyota does the majority of it's hiring internally. The corporate culture there is like no other company, but it works for them.

James Farley leaving is dissapointing, but I was even more shocked when Jim Press left, Mr. Toyota of NA!

Congrats to Mark Templin, the guy deserves it.

Thank you, Thank you . . . Now that I have those guys moving upward, I can come out and let you all know that I will begin my career as VP of Scion by throwing a party in Miami again to celebrate my promotion. See you all there in a few weeks!

lol, yeah wouldn't it be cool if that REALLY happened.

They will be missed. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with them both. Wow this is just as sad as me leaving Fox. What a crazy 2 months in Scion / Toyota world, well even if I'm not with Fox, Mark and Jim are gone...no worries...I love scion and I'm continuing to more forward with helping the brand.

Good luck to Mark & Jim (Even if it's FORD )

Sorry had to comment on this. It's clearly management that IS the problem. But it's not just Ford, it's all the domestics. Not a single one of them wants to build a good small car. Why? Because it's not what they've had success with and absolutely no one wants to stake his/her career on it.

Case in point the Focus. In Europe the Focus is a great car, what is it here? I guess you could call it the Mazda 3 here. Ford just won't use the platform. Why? Cause it is more expensive and they don't think they can sell it. If that's not defeatism I'm not sure what is. The domestics really do need to meet the competition at every corner. Pickups were the last bastion they had and now Toyota and Nissan have entered that market as well.

Oh and those fat contracts that Ford is paying to the UAW, who do you think signed off on those? That's right, management.

Best of luck to him, I think he's gonna need it because it's not product that he has to change, it's the attitude of management.

hahahaha, hope he has some money in the back cause he won't be getting paid by ford anytime soon. just kidding

ford has been losing money due to their drop in sales. Mainly, it has been a quality control issue. Ford cars don't last as long as imports do, and the technology and design just cant keep up (gauges, trim, standard features)

I've been in beijing, and they absolutely LOVE fords! Just recently ford has been introduced to the chinese market. the new focus is a big hit (not the ugly focus in america). The really love the mustang's exhaust note.

Now the reason ford is big over there is because chinese domestic cars are sh&*ty as f$$k; and that is an understatement.

I like how Ford owns Mazda though, eventhough they can't even deal with the money they are losing.
