Default Largest spacer?

I was wondering what would be the largest wheel spacer you would feel comfortable with on your xB? I got these rims with a large offset, +45mm, and I will space out the rims but didn't know what would be good without compromising saftey. any help would be great. Thanks, Bill

wheel spacers... 5mm with the stock studs. 10mm+ will need new studs. You can also put wheel shims in the rear...they are 10mm and you can get them at onetongarage.com. The shims don't need extended studs...

with the +15 and +25, did you have to get new studs? if so how hard was it to do?

the front has new studs...i have the h n r kit both front and rear. the rear is a ready made spacer kit that has the spacer w/ studs in it so u just bolt it to your original wheel studs...the front you need to have it taken to a shop and have the new stude pressed in...defeintaly not a DIY job unless you have the equipment. other than that pretty straight forward..ill look for a digicam n send ya pics when i have time so u can see how 18X7.5 +45 offset wheels look w/ those spacers....it can still come out more but that sthe biggest h n r makes

I would appriciate the pics very much. spacers aren't very cheap. but for the price I paid for the rims I can't complain. thanks.

I ended up with old school Konig MP3. they look like the JDM Advans. the price was right for 18's and you don't see anybody with them on. my friends tell me there is a reason for that. I don't care, I like them.

Hmm....yah i know which rims those are..the 3 spokes that are the replica advans.

I'll soon be rockin' replica rims again. I don't care what people say either. All that matters is that you like em. :D

spacers should be avoided unless necessary

I have to disagree with you on the front wheel stud installation. I put in the longer wheel studs that came with my H&R spacers and it was not hard at all. I did a DIY writeup with pictures a while ago. below is a link to it (its also in the tech section).

yeah, i preffered to have them pressed in and like i said, UNLESS YOUR HAVE THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT which i didnt, u can DIY (do it yourself.) please read the post carefully. i didnt have the correct tools on hand, and its always better to get them pressed hammering the studs in is never recommened as the studs can warp. its happened before on many cars ive changed the studs on when i use to do mechanic work.

I did read your post dude. All I was saying is that for anyone that has a jack, jack stands and a wrench this is an easy job. What do you mean by "pressed in"? I agree that banging them in with a hammer is not the way to go. If you read my DIY you would know that. All you need to do is put the new stud in from behind, put the stock lug nut on the end of it and then tighten the nut until the stud is pulled all the way through. I bet that is exactly how the shop that did yours did it. Anyways, no big deal, but this is not a hard DIY.

so you are saying that I should get longer studs for the 5mm spacers? now for bigger spacers, do you need longer studs also, like 15-25mm spacers? or will they come with the spacers?

It is not necessary to put in longer studs with 5mm spacers. I did just to be safe. Over 5mm you will definitely need longer studs unless the spacer has them built in. It depends on the what the spacer was manufactured.
