Toyota's Scion, which takes pride in securing the youngest of consumers, goes for an even younger bunch, as it recently partnered with toy manufacturer Ridemakerz to introduce Scion scale models that kids can customize themselves.

What does the carmaker get out of selling the $22 apiece toy? A decade or two later when the time comes for youngsters to buy their first cars, the childhood play will hopefully convince them to want a ``real ride.''

I have a 7 year old son that has recognized every car on the road since he could talk. I'm not exaggerating. That article was very interesting. He could have been learning all about cars inutero... and then I sold cars for 2 years and he was a regular around the dealership.... he has the most amazing collection of model cars and I bet you it all because of subliminal messages... crazy. He keeps telling me that when he's 16 he's getting an xB and xB does account for almost half of his cars... I wonder....

awwww...thats cute! somehow i think the subliminal messgaging worked...hes been tainted and its hard to get off once it happeneds...well atleast its an Xb and not a fast car for his first car ya know? the volvo ads of square but safe...but not lying when you say it lol!

i think i'm doomed to my kids be tainted by the car scene too... oh well we'll just tune the powerwheels in un-natural ways till then....well until he/she is big enough to uhh...drive a real one LOL! j/k

Ya know? At least the car addiciton isn't that expensive yet. It seems weird to me that he's not telling me that he wants a fast car. He's been for a ride in every model of Toyota currently on the market... he can tell you the liters the engine is, the HP, what VSC does... he's schooled a few salesmen. HAHA. It all stems from toys and jingles. Scarey... I wonder what it is that's making me hungry right now? They're probably playing something overhead that makes me want to waste money on junk food at the snack bar.... yes. my dealership has a snack bar.

a snack bar? oh how evil! "the man" works in mysterious ways...

yea being around a dealership would make a kid know everything! they are young and hungry for knowledge ...well most are and i think its kool your kid is into cars...i guess when he gets older he'll be better at knowing what type of car wil work for him and the salesfloor do's and donts right? if you think about it too how much time in our lives do we spend in cars? or even how many cars o we see in a day (limitless if you think about it) they are in a sense a huge part of our lives so i wouldnt find the Ads and jingles and comercials too scary hell just think of the "duck and cover" nuclear bomb safety Ads back in the day! looking back on the information in those ads is SCARY! LOL!

hmm i wonder since you say hes not into fast cars...does he notice the difference ...does he enjoy riding in a sporty car over an SUV or a econo vehicle? since hes rode in all the models i'm curious what his fave is? lol!

Well, he really is into the Tundra. A LOT. BUT he also knows all about the Prius. He has interest in some other cars. He thinks Mustangs are cool (probably because a good friend of mine has one)... he still thinks he's getting an xb when he's 16. I told him that there was NO TELLING what car models will be around or what the body style will look like then. He's been following NASTRUCK for about a year now. I so hope he doesn't end up a car salesman... But hey, if he does he does and I'm sure he'll make bank at it.
