i'll be getting tires for my new wheels next weekend, and am just torn between getting 35 series or 40 series rubber...

i know the 35's are the closest to the stock wheel height, but man there really isn't much sidewall on those things, so i was thinking maybe getting some 40 series tires to soften up the ride a bit - the 40's are still shorter than the height of the wheels/tires on the 19's so it shouldn't rub or anything even with my 2.2" drop in the front

i figure also the extra sidewall will help fill in the slight fenderwell gap - which i like, but it'll probably raise the car up a bit, which i don't like..

wanna share your experiences/ideas/observations with 35 or 40 series 18" tires?

If you are looking to go down about 2 inches or so and still be riding on 18s--your best bet is 215/35's.

I've heard numerous people tell me that 215/40's (The tires I wish I could run) will have rubbing problems up front.

Let me know if you get it to work out or if someone else has run the setup with 215/40's on a 2inch drop with 18+ wheels...I'd love to do that!

 

Anybody think this combo will work with the Eibach Spring (1.6 - 1.8) drop, or with the TRD springs? I'd consider a smaller drop if I could run 40 series tires on my ride. I do a lot of driving so I'm looking to run the 40 series if at all possible.

i have pirelli 35's on mine, and a 2" drop, and i still have a fat gap in the fender well. I would go with the 40's for the softer ride, and to fill up the gap

 

i'm running toyo proxys 245/35r18 and wanna move to 40's since the ride feels like im actually on the rim, grooves in the road move me all around .... so if you go with the 40's let me know about the fitment cuz i've heard that they do cause some rubbing

 

it is possible to run on 40s with a 2" drop without it rubbing? what type of mod would you have to do? man if i knew this i wouldn't of bought the goldlines..

 

I wish I can run sum 40 series, but my friend has a xb with 2" drop with 18" wheels and was saying that he was rubbing in the front when he busts a b*tch. So with a 2.2" drop and 40 series, it'd depend on the person and how he/she drives around

 

Hmm, if that's the case. Maybe a 1.25" Spy spring with a 40 tire in front and 2" drop with 40 in the back? My concern would be the ride quilty.
