Toyota turns xB from a curiosity into a keeper

Passengers will find the xB's ride considerably more comfortable and refined than they would expect from a $16,000 vehicle. Unlike many economy cars, the xB is miles beyond merely tolerable on long trips. I was particularly impressed with the way it dampens wind, road, and mechanical noise even at highway speeds.
And there aren't many cars that are more fun to drive around town. Despite its larger standard tires/wheels (16 inches vs. 15) and longer wheelbase, the new xB can turn a circle that's more than a foot shorter than its predecessor. Combined with tight and precise, beautifully weighted steering, the xB feel as zippy as it looks.
Actually, it probably zips around corners a lot quicker than its boxy style suggests. That's because the xB has tremendous grip and virtually no body lean in the corners. And if a driver gets overzealous -- especially on a slick road -- the xB's standard anti-skid control may bail them out of trouble.
That's one of several safety features that are standard on the xB. Some of the others are four-wheel ABS disc brakes, traction control, front side airbags, and front and rear side curtain airbags.

I agree with everything in that article except the body lean which I feel is quite a bit. Hopefully installing my trd springs, swaybar, & strut bar will greatly reduce it.
sweet, they got rid of any quirkiness and personality and were able to appeal to a middle-aged (40+) newspaper reviewer... awesome!! so glad that they got rid of that whole "appeal to the youth of america" theme that caused Scion to be such a train wreck when it was first introduced.

I would of been more than willing to spend few extra K's for AWD tC
Then on the other hand after seeing all the damn snow yesterday...I'm kicking my own a$$ for not buying a FJ. Maybe I didn't realize their MSRP was $26k not $32 like I thought at time AFTER signing TFS loan contract.
(I'm such a idiot!!!)

Living in SoCal you see so many Scion XBs. The other day I went to Ralphs and there were at least 6 XB Scions in the parking lot there and no there wasn't a meet.
They are a very popular car without all the BS hype that the Hondas have.
