Default front strut top nut tightening problem...........HELP

I've got the easystreet front struts on my daily driven xB and about a week or so ago i noticed that when i lay it out or make a turn there is a clunking/popping noise coming from the passanger side strut area. I've done some searching and research and found that sometimes that top nut comes loose and to tighten it up every once in a while. Well i tried to do so but the stud that that nuts goes onto spins when you try to tighten it. Can anyone help me out on how i can go about tighting that nut without pulling that entire strut assembly out of the car? Thanks

First, are you sure the keyway is lined up in the strut bushing? If it is and the nut is simply loose , there is a special tool for tightening these. It consists of an open socket that fits the nut and can be turned by an external hex that is part of the socket. Thru the center a another socket that fits the flats at the top of the shaft is inserted to hold it. I made one using an old regular socket and a shock socket and some grinding.

Are you sure it is loose?? Both my struts make noise from defective top strut mounting. I am told that a replacement bushing will soon be produced by Air Lift to fix this annoying problem.

Impact can be hard to fit in the space with them on the car.

When you do get it re tightened add a second nut over the first one to keep it tight. It works for me now.

Take the time to make sure the strut is seated correctly. Replacing the nut, and/or adding some blue Loctite can also aid in hardware retention.

Yeah but if he were to use locktite on a strut nut it may never come apart if he has no access to clamp vise grips on the shaft.
