Default How much do you tip the parking valet?

What's up guys! I just got a 2nd part time job as a parking valet for special events. I start this coming Saturday. I don't know what to expect! So far i've learned that the average valet tip is $3. Anyone have any valet experience? Customer/employee let me here your rants!

Tip amount depends on how fast they bring my car. Anywhere from 2-5 dollars...

^^ same about. Depends if I have singles or not. My friend works valet too. Sometimes he gets sent out to clubs out in the Hamptons and he said that on a good weekend night out there he could easily get 450 in tips.

I've worked as a Valet Attendee for the pass 3 years untill i recently quit. The average tip over here is 2 dollars per car.

You can't expect much tipping from Women, Old People and your own slow service. I can break it into further details if you want.

I find one of most important thing when parking a persons car is your introduction. You'll want them to feel welcomed to the venue the person is going to. Keep an eye on things like opening the door for the ladies on the passenger side, and the men usually hang their jackets in the rear so you can always open the door for them to grab it. Its little things like this you hope they remember as they come back outside after a 6 hour or so event.

As they exit the party, they may be carrying things that you can offer to help put away or pop the trunk.

Little things like this tend to bring in a couple more dollars for the night.

You can always ask your coworkers what they usually do as it can be totally different on the west coast. I sure hope you know all of the workers unless you guys have a box to throw the tips into. I've caught people putting money in their socks and only taking a couple of dollars out in the end of the night's pool.

Good luck!

^^ Niiiice!

I've tipped like $3 for valet on my tC in Beverly Hills-- but that was only because the parking lot was literally like 5 feet from the restuarant, and my car was in the first spot.......he moved my car like 5 feet...so $3-- otherwise usually $5 =)

I don't rock the valet... I'm not really a fan of other people driving my car.

^^^iawtc.

If its mandatory valet, I pay the guy & park it myself, haha.

I don't think anyone but me can even fit in my bucket MoMo's lol. I have to take my steering wheel OFF to even get in the car, & I'm a small girl (5'2" 110 pounds).

I've seen many times on the job and i wouldn't want to valet my car neither lol.

Its eitheir they'll rip your car back and forth or if you leave any goodies inside , it will be gone.

Then there was an idiot that used the customers speed pass to pay for gas for his own car, needless to say the gas station had cameras and the dude was arrested.

Yea, the last time someone drove my car was after an alignment... the guy parked it out front and was within an 1/8" of tearing my lip off.

Dont like people messin with my lambo doors...or my seats... plus VERY FEW people nowadays know how to drive stick shifts correctly, I hate coming back to my car only to discover the smell of burnt clutch inside. ... If its mandatory valet, i tip a dollar or two...
parking a car isnt that hard

jus getting to drive my tc is tip enough....

sup guys just had my first day as a valet today. a lot of people are rude and dont understand how long it takes to run to their car when it's on the other side of the park. so far the cars i pulled up that were nicer/more expensive tipped a little more shiesty than the occasional honda civic. we parked this gentlemen's Mercedes AMG SL55 up front (didn't tip up front) and when i pulled up his car (literally 30 seconds) he tipped me a dollar. wow.
