Default Replacement for stock tires

I'm not quite ready yet, but I'm soliciting opinions of replacements for my stock Goodyear LS's when they finally wear out.

For those who have replaced thier tires with new ones of the same stock size (180/60-15) what have you chosen and are you pleased? How has the change affected ride quality, handling, etc.

Thank you in advance.

Jim

The stock tires are hot circles of garbage, almost anything would be better...

I hear good things about the Yokohama Avid TRZ

Look into the Yokohama TRZ.

Far superior to stock.

Thanks. My car has about 23k miles. I measured the tread depth today with a gauge and got readings in the 5/32 to 6/32 range consistently from tire to tire. I took readings on the inside, middle, and outside of each tire.

They should have started life at either 10/32 or 11/32 so it appears they are approximately half worn if you go all the way to the bars. (wear bars at 2/32).

That would put me in the mid 40k's if I go to the bars. I have probably a year until I have to replace them, plenty of time to investigate new replacements.

I am checking out the Yokahama's.

Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S - probably the quietest, smoothest riding tires I've ever owned, handle really well, and awesome in the rain. I got them in a 195/60-15, and they look as good as they ride.

You may want to take a look at the Falken 912. It was rated as #1 on Consumer Reports magazine this month. Its a very quiet tire with excellent wet/dry traction. Let me kow if you have any questions.

Exactly.

^ They come in the stock size as well. I'm running a set of 205/55-15 Falken 912s on the box. I used to think that the 512s were pretty great. They still are, but the 912s are way better! (^o^ ) <3

if your like me and are looking for a good tire and have very very little green in the wallet - the kumho 732 are pretty good very little road noise and traction is pretty good in both dry and wet conditions - my stock good years were only good for about 18,000 miles i rounded the hell out of them !
