noob here. want to lower my xb...
whats going on guys im a former honda guy and im picking up my 06 xb tomm. im going to put my 17 inch rims on it with 215-45-17 tires my question is i want to lower my xb but i dont want to get new shocks or a camber kit. whats the best springs to get to lower my xb on 17s where i dont need a camber kit or new shocks. thanx in advance!
depends on how low you want to go, and how stiff - soft you want the ride to be..
personally i use the progress tech springs - about 1.7 inch lower in front, 1.5 in back.. love them, great ride..
the goldlines will go about the same drop, but will be even, no rake in front.. the tanabe's are the lowest sprigs out there, but i hear they have a harsher ride..
try the "search" function on top, and you;ll find tons of pages on the differences in each spring..

^^^ to give you peace of mind:
lowering the xB, you will almost never need camber kits or new shocks. people have been running 2" drops on the stock suspension internals with absolutely no problems.
for you, the skunk2 drop might be the way to go, as it's a 1.4" drop.
again, on the xB, a 1" drop doesnt do much for the gap/aesthetics.

no, but.....
i have a staggered wheel setup, that is pretty extreme now, when i had the TRD 19's (ofset +45) i had no issue with the drop at all, great drop, great handeling, no rubbing, no camber adjustment needed... now with this rim tire combo, the ofset is +20 and the wheels are 8'' up front 9'' in back, i should camber them and change the shocks to suit my needs, but if you are not going to do a super low ofset, you will love the ride, just change the springs out.. keep in mind, i want to camber for clearance needs due to my particular set up, not because lowering the box forced me to do it, to prevent tite wear.. most people don't want a daily driver with a +20 offset on a 9'' wide rim, but i'm nuts..
over time though, you will probobly want to upgrade the stock shocks/struts, but for the first year or two, you'll be fine with just a mild drop spring..
see my post below, and you can see the drop on my old rims vs new ones.. look specifially at the rear wheels while on the 19'' TRD rims and you'll see that there are no clearance issues and camber is not needed, a spacer could have pushed the rear wheels out a touch, but i sold those rims, and knew the +20 offset would flush the wheels to the fender.
if you are going to daily driver, a mild drop will be fine, depending on the offset of your 17'' rims.... you probobly would want a +30 or +35 offset, maybe even a +45, depending on how wide the rims are..
