Default Hid light goes out after few minutes

I have had some hid's for about 1 1/2 years and now am having issues with them. One of them will go out after they have been on for about 2 minutes. If i immediatly tunr them off and back on they will go back on again for about 2 minutes. I can do this over and over.

They are Helios hid and they do have a relay that connects to the battery. They do have seperate ballast and ignitors. I cannot swap them around since they are buried and here in Chicago it is pretty cold right now.

What are your thoughts on what could be wrong or has anyone else ran across this issue?

maybe your ballast is overheating and doing it too quickly?

The exact thing is happening to me right now. I have prolumen HIDs.

My passenger seat light goes out after a few minutes. If i turn off all my lights and then turn everything back on the hid comes back up but then again goes out after a few minutes.

I trouble shooted the error by switching around the ballasts and it seems its a bulb issue. I'm sending the bulb back to the manufacturer and see what they say.

I read on another forum that they thought it might be the bulb also. I am waiting for things to warm up a tad (over 32 degrees) and was going to try and swap them and see if that helps.

Have you been in contact with the manufacturer and if so have they heard of this issue?

Actually i'm going through the seller Jlevi. Sometimes they do get bad batches and they want to see what causes the errors so they can prevent them in the future.

My bf's hid bulbs both went out. They sent him a new set.

Guess I would be happy if it was only the bulbs since that would be the cheaper of the fixes.

I actually had the same problem a while ago. I just ordered a mobileHID kit and replaced the previous kit that I had including the bulbs. After taking the old kit out, I had a friend of mine take a look at it, it seems that there was a short in the ballast and that every time it turned on, it would work for a little bit before it overheated and died. Hence I was able to turn it off and turn it back on and have it work again. I'd say you need a new ballast.

Edit: I forgot to mention, for now you should try not to drive at night, since your bulb still works. If you keep turning it on, your bulb will eventually die out very quickly, mine did two days after I started having the problem because I kept turning it off and back on.

Have you priced ballasts?

Might as well buy a new kit and get everything new.
