Default 225/45R17s too wide for 2005 xB?

Hi Everyone,

First post here. I have a 2005 Scion xB. I'd like to upgrade my tires but was told 225/45R17s would have rubbing issues due to width and height.

My xB is at stock ride height, and the rim I have is 17.7.5.

I found an answer.

225/45/R17 will rub in the rear on a bolt that sticks out. 215/45R17 was recommended as an alternative.

all depends on the offset of the wheel you are planning on using. offset is the amount of space the hub is mooved from the "middle" of the wheel - hub is closer to the front of rim or closer to the rear of rim..
