Does it shorten the life of my struts in my 05 XB if I only get the lowering springs?

When you lower the Box with lowering springs, do you have to move anything like brakelines or anything?

Does anyone in my area have the tools needed to put in lowering springs, and would you help me if I get them?

If you only go mild drop like H techs or TRDs you will be fine.
Any more than an inch of drop may cut the lifespan of the struts and shock down some but who knows for sure???

The article is saved in the Tech section and is the reference I used when I did my S-Techs way back in 2005. If you are decent with tools and such and have a impact gun (makes things super easy) you will be fine took me an 1-1.5 hours to finish. BTW check out the miles in my signature...all on the original struts

I didn't say the struts/shocks weren't hammered, I need new ones for sure but they still hold their own! Just wanted to put it out there that it is not a must have item if you OE ones are still fresh.. spend that cash on a rear sway bar instead!

 

Yup. I'm dropped 2" and aside from having pretty stiff springs, the ride is fine.

 

Sweet. whats a good price for a pretty good set of lowering springs?

 

Around $200 give or take 25 bucks.
Please, before you ask... no, the offbrand $50 springs on ebay are not good.

Use a name brand spring: Tein, Tanabe, Eibach, Progress, Hotchkis, etc.

I've been on S-Techs for over 2 years on the original struts and they're still doing fine. Those 2 years were spent in Ohio, too, so the suspension took quite a beating.

 

You CAN use the stock struts/ springs for awhile but they are so hard it really makes for a rough ride. For around $200 you could upgrade to the Monroes for a nice comfy ride and still be low on S Techs.

 

K Sport springs are also good.. I'm on my stock struts (dropped the box at 1200 miles) so they broke in low.. Its been almost 2 years, still rides like day 1.

 

Im waiting for the hotchkis in the mail, I wish someone can tell me about them for the xb ride drop and whatnot, most of everyone I know has Tein for the box
