Default DIY strut tower brace

I just made a less than 20.00 front STB.
It's a 46" square 1" by 1" aluminum tubing.
Drill two small holes to the top of the front shock towers and two larger holes for the socket and nut access.
You can look at my gallery for more pix.

haha, Red Green would be proud. Does it make any noticeable difference in driving? I might have to give this a try.

Not that a strut bar does a whole lot on the xB/xA anyways, but that thing's gonna flex like a ****.

you can get one on ebay for a little more than that, and it will look a hundred times better...

Looks, I don 't care. It does not flex. Jacked the car up on one side. It's pretty stiff.

Yea, it's not operating as a strut bar should be. If you think it looks cool, that's one thing, but it isn't really tying anything together as well as you might think.

I thought looks was the only reason to add on with our cars!

^ They aren't completely useless, they just don't really make a massive difference.

I'll let ya know when and if one of the two bolts snap off.

On looks, I don't run around with the hood off.

They do nothing to "tighten up" the ride. Sway bars do that.
The only thing they do is limit strut tower flex on very hard cornering while auto crossing.
I just removed mine while I was repainting it and during normal driving I've noticed zero difference.

She prolly doesn't drive it hard enough to ever snap off the bolts.

You oviously don't do car shows with it. Actually this picture is most likely being added to the "Spot the Rice" websites. Right up there with the 2ft high plywood wings.

Mine was $30 shipped from ebay. It had proper mounting points and a nice carbon fiber look. I'm sorry, as for functionality and looks I cant get behind it.

But it's not like I havent done goofy things to my box and then improved on them. keep up updated if you come up with any other ideas.
