Default noise after S-Tech install

I switched from H-Techs to S-Techs last weekend, everything was cool until yesterday. I'm getting a noise coming from the front left corner, only when i turn right. and it's only when sitting, or just barely moving. It kinda sounds like the tire is rubbing on something, but when i looked under there today at work, it didn't look like the tire was hitting the fenderwell anywhere. I did a search and read that some people are getting slight rubbing on that front corner with a similar set up (18"s, and 35 series tires), but nobody said what the tire was rubbing on. I'm working 12 hour days right now, so haven't had time yet to pull into the garage and check it out. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry that was so long!

I was running a lower drop on 18s and I was fine.
How wide is the wheel? A wide wheel (greater than 7.5) might rub a bit at full lock.

7.5" wide. and it starts almost from center throughout the turn. I noticed when i turn the wheel, the spring and the top retainer piece rotates, is that normal??

I left work early today and pulled into my garage, jacked it up, and pulled the wheel. I saw no signs of rubbing anywhere. visually, everything looked good and tight. so lowered it back down and re-checked the top 17mm's and the 12mm's, all were tight but one of the back ones, so sinched it down good and tight. Got in and the noise was gone. Kinda wierd that that one 12mm was a little loose and caused that much noise.

that's good to know. But this morning, when backing out of my driveway, there it was again! I know everything is good and tight, the strut rebounds nicely when i compress that corner, so i don't know what it is.

I had a similar problem on my right side that developed a couple of weeks after i installed some springtech springs. I assumed that it was the steering system and ignored it cause i didnt want to pay up the a$$

Long story short, isolated the sound to the right strut tower, assumed it was the springs, bought s-techs this week and installed them yesterday...

the right spring was just rubbing inside the tower. Check that the metal plate inside your strut assembly (the one that says "OUT") is indeed pointing OUT. If not, the spring sits in a way that it is too close inside the tower and rubs metal on metal. To make sure it stays straight i put the top 17mm nuts on just a little bit, then installed the assembled struts (19mm and 12mm bolts all tight and good) then finished tightening. Worked for me

NOTE: It may have just been the cheaply designed springtech springs, but I really doubt it because 1) the left was fine, and 2) others have those springs and have no problems.

I thought about that being it, but kinda ruled it out, since it took almost a week to start. would't it make it right away if it was backwards? I've done 3 sets, and i'm pretty sure i double checked their position. but it was a rush job, 40 minutes, so i may have missed it. I'm gonna tear it out tonight and check. Thanks.

I left work early today and came home to take the strut out and check the postion of the plate above the spring, sure enough, it was facing in. Switched it around and now the noise is gone. I guess thats what happens when you rush!
