In the near future...
I work at an air conditioning supply house in South Louisiana and from time to time I get some inside info. I was told today that in the near future (2009/2010) there will be a mandatory phase out of R134a because of it's high global warming output. For those of you that don't know R134a is the refrigerant they use in vehicle a/c units. It's already been outlawed in Europe and will soon be phased out here. The reason I am putting this out there is because no one has designed a drop in replacement for R134a, yet. I know they are a lot of intelligent Scion owners and I figured someone could get extremely wealthy if they knew what they were doing.

No offense but everything I've read says that R134a isn't banned in Europe until 2011. I haven't seen anything that says its going to be banned in the US. These things usually take several years and have much yelling back and forth so can I trouble you for your sources?
