Traction Control
Anyone ever have any issues with their engaging while driving normal? On my way to work, my steering wheel started to shake violently at around 35-40mph...at first I thought it might be a flat tire.....I pulled over to see if I had one..none..so I go back on my way to work and it still continues all the way to work. My next thought was maybe one of the wheels is loose..nope...so after putting the car on a rack...I discovered that the traction control was engaging on its own. I tried turning it off but the ABS still engages. Tried to reset it...nothing.I don't want to take it to the dealership so I want to see if anyone has had any issues with their box in the past similar to mine. Please chime in.
I have experienced this problem on other vehicles, not the box however. The usual cause is an incorrect reading from one of the abs sensors at the wheel. It makes the ABS/TRAC think that one wheel has lost traction so the systems activate to correct it, but since the wheels aren't actually slipping, the TRAC doesn't stop.
Could be 1)defective abs sensor, 2)damaged abs ring, 3)damaged wiring from abs sensor to abs/trac ecm.
Remember, the dealer is your friend, not you foe. They would probably charge a 1.0 hour diagnostic, in which time they should find the problem.
