Default New SSR's for the xB

OK I am confused on this whole offset thingy. I have decided to go the tuner route on my box. I will be doing a ton of stuff over the next 6 months. I.E. Suspension, Motor Work, Prob redo the paint and so on. But I think I should get these wheels coming early because they will prob take a while to make knowing the custom wheel manufactures.

I think as far as performance is concerned 17" wheels and tires is prob the best all around. But what width wheel and what offset would be the best.
I will be running JIC Coilovers or something similar lowered to just above the tire.

Here is a picture of the rims that I like. And the following is a picture of all sizing and offsets available.

Thanks for your help.

I'm open to whatever the best performance will be.

I'm currently running 18 x 7.5" with 35 series tires. Its alright but the rims weigh a ton. "Giovanna Brake Chrome"

Performance and ride quality wise I'm sure the 17" is the optimum tire and wheel package for our cars.
As far as concerns, I just dont want any rubbing. I work out of my car and drive about 30000 miles a year.

Thanks for your help in deciding the offsets.

Nice choice. I would go with 17x9 et24 normal disk (72mm lip) front and 17x9 et24 super low disk (84mm lip) rear. Stretched 215/40 Falken tires all around. If you're gonna go with custom JDM wheels you might as well go big

Dude your really going to have to provide a little more
info than that.... sure you want to go the tuner route but
how agressive do you want to go, what are you willing
to sacrifice. what look are you trying to achieve

Keep in mind different widths and offsets will give
different issues for instance one being rubbing.

some people will tell you some weak offsets like 17x7.5 +24
and others will tell you something extremely agressive like
17x10 -14, I personally would go with something more like -14

You trying to get?
Flush
Tuck The Wheel
Rub Like Crazy
Wheels Sticking 2in. Outside The Fender

Its all your taste.

I don't really like the look of fender flares. So my taste would for sure be flush or just tucked. My main concern though is rubbing as I said earlier in this post. I just drive to many miles to have to deal with that. With that said though, I don't mind rolling the fenders or making a small mod to the body to get the clearance that is required for the tire and wheel package.

On that note. I would like the stance of being able to go have fun again autocrossing. I'm not worried about being in whatever class just want a car that is a kick to drive and that is setup correctly.

Thanks again for all the inputs on this selection.

I figured that you wouldn't want to go crazy for a daily driver. My suggestion should work for ya, but you'd probably want to roll the rear fenders if you used a rear 10mm shim to make the fronts and rears even (which I would do...) or you could go even lower offset in the rear, but personally I don't like when the rear lip is too deep.

So if I am understanding this right a offset of +24 is farther into the inside off the car and a -14 is sticking the wheels outside of the fender wells?
If the offset is zero does that mean the the disc is in the center of the rim?
Meaning that if you had a 10" wide rim there would be 5" on the inside and 5" on the outside lip approximately plus or minus the thickness of the disk?
Is this offset measurement in millimeters?

Is there a way to measure and figure out exactly where everything will line up?

-Yes.
-Yes.
-Tes.
-Yes.

I know how things line up simply because I'm on my tenth set of wheels and tires, everything from 45 to 15 offset. If you want to see what it looks like visually, just search around this and other sites for pix of similar spec wheels. People on here have run Rota D2's (ssr knockoffs) with similar specs.

17's will be great on coilovers. 15's will be too small without air. And like stated above, you can go mild to wild. A +17 F and +10 rear on a 8" wide wheel gets you perfectly flush. So any diffence in widths will have to be calculated from there. A 9" wheel will need to have 1/2" removed, more to the + side, to fit the same. If you don't want flares, anything more to the - of that won't work. On the rear, you can always get a little less offset, and make it up with spacers, then when autocrossing, thake the spacers out for more fender clearance. But I prefer more lip. That's why I'm running 15x10 - 20 in the rear.

On the chart, the mm numbers across the top is actually how much lip you'll have with the coordinating offset and width below and to the left.

Nice choice of wheels too.

this will be your best setup, trust me it will be sick!

17x8 +10 Fr 17x9 +17 will need to roll rear fenders

If you can get something similar in offsets you'll be happy

Love your choice of wheels. My suggestion for wheel and tire size would be the 17X7.5" with the 43mm offset. Tire size would be 215/40/R17. Be sure to post up some pics after they are installed Steve.

What size did you decide on going with? Can't wait to see them.
