My custom designed and built entertainment center
This is something I came up with to fit in my bedroom at my old house. I wanted something that fit nicely into the inlet in the wall that can fit my new TV but was extremely functional.
What I designed is 60 inches across and 60 inches tall, I can't remember how deep but it's pretty deep. I used plywood to build it for the price and to be able to build it so large without having to fuse pieces of metal together. The plywood has a thing layer of actual grain wood on it for the look and then I used edging tape for the entire front of the unit and around the doors and drawer.

In these next pictures I am showing the secret cubby I designed to hold my Monster Power conditioner, basically a super high end power strip. I made this because I knew with the weight and size of the entertainment center I would not want to be pulling this thing in and out from the wall to connect and disconnect things. For the cubby there is a door held on with three magnets and to take it off I just push on the top and it pops off......"you put your weeeeed in there man"....for any old school SNL fans.
On the top of the cubby pointing down is a light bar controlled by remote control so that way when I'm dealing with the wires I can see exactly what I'm doing.

The drawer in the center has a hole cut out in the back which is where I keep my PS2 nice and tucked out of the way. When I want to play it I just keep the drawer pulled out for cooling and when done just close it up and throw my wireless controller in with it.
The left lower door has 4 drawers on sliders that pull out. The top one has wooden dividers for DVD's the bottom three has dividers for CD's. The lower right door has a single shelf inside spaced evenly enough to hold LP's if I want or misc. stuff.

On the right side of the entertainment center is where my AV receiver is and other units like cable. Above those is another shelf on sliders where I can keep my turntable and pull it out to open the lid.

The entire top section of the center was designed as a display case for my Crow collectibles. This wasn't finished when I took the shots but the entire back of the display case part has a custom cut mirror with custom vinyl made to say "THE CROW" is the Mael font like the movie. The vinyl I got in a color to make it look like it's etched into the mirror and add a really cool effect. So far no one that doesn't know it's vinyl has that that it's anything but etched in. On the top front lip hidden away are two 24" remote control light bars that i can control to light up the display case and give it a nice look, especially with the mirror in the back. There is also a light bar above where the record player is to add a nice look and also functional for when I'm changing out DVD's in my changer and need to see what I'm doing.
Whats not able to be seen in the picture and another part of the function of the unit is how my 250 watt dual 15" powered sub enclosure fits in the center of the unit on the floor. Because at the time I was hard up for space I wanted to maximize my space. Now that the entertainment is at my new place with Heidi and its diagonal in the corner I can pull out that subwoofer and have enough room to crawl through and stand up behind it to wire up everything EVEN easier.
If anyone wants help designing function furniture in their house hit me up, I'm pretty proud of this one.

You must not have seen my system install. My rear panels are custom done to house my 2 amplifiers, my front door panels are custom fiberglassed to house two 6.5's and tweeters along with 2 voltage meters on my driver door with window and door switches relocated to dash.
