Let's think about this.
How many of you would sacrifice your life and go on a mission to mars?
It'd take 7-10 months to get there and basically you'd do research / explore / transmit pictures & video until your supplies ran out.
Who here would do that? Just think. You would be famous and in the history books from here on out.
I would.

that would be a negative on my part...it would be interesting yes. but there is so much here we have yet to have found or figured out. like whats at the very bottom of ocean what fossils can we find. etc
I have had crap luck i this planet, so yes for sure in a heart beat. Not to mention it would be a blast. Come on look what people do they are like drones you work to survive so what would be the difference and you would get something out of it an adventure and so some stuff many others will never do.
Bad idea - ever notice how whenever someone goes on long term mission to mars, they always get killed by aliens, possessed by aliens, or horrifically infected and altered by aliens? Or at the very least the aliens are boring, long-winded, and although they may want to give you the secrets of the universe, they will go about it in long, bizarre, scary, oblique way?
Wow, 20 year old conspiracy theorist even. Let me clue you in, I work for the federal government. I work on several projects with NASA and have participated in Endeavour's shuttle maintenance. Trust me when I say this:
The government is not well enough organized to commit a mass conspiracy.
We went to the moon, we had the technology. All it took was almost twice the budget NASA has today, adjusted for inflation and no other major projects diverting funding; things like hurricane tracking, global temperature measurements, satellite mapping, Hubble, Martian rovers, etc.
We can go to Mars today, as the OP stated, there were even feasibility studies conducted for one-way missions. They would be cheaper and have far less technical hurdles since a Martian departure and Earth re-entry vehicle would not be needed. Of course in our current media environment the risk would be considered too great and it would never be approved. To get there and back, all that needs to be done is have Bush put his money where his mouth is like Kennedy did, instead of setting lofty goals without the resources needed to reach them.

What does my age have to do with anything? I am entitled to my own opinion and interpretation of the events that "took place" just like you are... You just like me weren't even around when the "moon landing" happened. Who cares that you work for the federal Govt, that just means that if they are covering something up then they are lying to you just like they are lying to everyone else.
I'd have to agree that our government is not nearly organized enough to support most of the conspiracies out there.
And I think he was referencing your age due to the fact that you're seemingly quite jaded already... it usually takes a longer time for that to happen.

Hmmm, I am very opinionated and have my own views and beliefs, I figure things out on my own and draw my own conclusions from both sides of every story that I heard. Many people think that I am older then I am and more are surprised at my views considering how young I am...
