Tein SS-P w/EDFC or S-techs & Koni
Getting prepared for a new setup since my TRD shocks are getting worn. I want damping control and an EDFC would be ideal. Adjustable height is good too. I like the S-tech drop but i'm running 16x7 EA25 wheels with 205/50/16 tires and am afraid it will rub. I really need to be able to adjust and tune both apsects. So i'm leaning toward the full Tein coilover setup w/edfc but i wanted opinions first. Would it really be that much more for that setup over the S-tech/Koni setup? Any links to the best prices for either setup would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks.
depends on how often you will be changing the dampers setting... when i was living in the country side with alot of turns i would change my dampers to 0 on my EDFC for a nice hard ride for taking turns was easier and faster. then when i reached into town then i'll adjust it to 16 or 10 front and back depends how smooth the road is. i love my SS-P's and EDFC it's been good to me for 3 years already and still going strong.
Its a trade off. Do you want a really good shock? or slightly better springs? The S-Tech's are garbage in terms of handling, its decent to daily drive, but if you're serious about handling get better springs. The coilovers get you adjustability and its way easier to go with a custom spring rate, but the Super Streets aren't vavled nearly as good as the Koni's. I've been running S-Tech's and Koni yellows for a while and my Tein springs sagging horribly, not to mention the spring rate is crap soft in the front and decent in the rear. What are you looking to get out of your new suspension set up? Handling? Comfort? Looks?

Which Eibach's did the other Scions have? What were the spring rates? What else did they have? It doesnt matter what parts you have on your car, what matters most is how the parts were chosen, and weather or not all the parts compliment each other. Having a dope suspension set up would contradict 19 inch chrome rims, and vice versa.
Take my xB for example; I have 16 inch 5Zigen FN01R-C's they're light and have sticky tires on them. My S-Techs are 80,000 Miles old but have fresh Koni yellows, Progress rear sway bar, custom fitted Energy Bushings (from when they R&D's my car), Strut bar, Do Luck Floor bar, braided brake lines, motul DOT 4 brake fluid, slotted rotors and axxis ultimates. All parts were chosen because they suspension/handling parts, Each part compliments eachother in terms of handling. The car looks bine stock except for the rims and exhaust and the bucket seat, all the mods are under the chassis.
To get back to the point, if you want a good handling car for the track go with coilovers, if you want a good handling street car get some koni's and some good springs (Eibach, Espilir, Tanabe, and heck even Tien), if you just want to drop the car just get springs and call it a day.
