Default 05XA 16" wheel clearance

Couldn't find any info that directly matched.

Installed a set of 16" MB wheels Seven X with Hankook Ventus 215's on my XA last weekend. Seems to clear overall but pretty tight in spots. Wondering how close is too close and if I need spacers? Any advice?

Shouldn't be hitting anything... Are you dropped? If you aren't then my guess is the offset isn't meant for your car.

No, it's not dropped. It doesn't seem to actually be hitting or rubbing as far as I can tell but is very close, like maybe 5mm?

Here are the specifics of my set-up.

2005 XA
Rims-16X7 4-100/114 40
Tires-215/50R-16 90H

Seems that my offset is 40. They never mentioned that would be a problem when I ordered but it definitely seems to be a problem now. Would 10mm spacers solve it or is there another option?

Called DTD today and they confirmed that this is the widest tire that works with my car but that it should be fine. I tried measuring the gap and it comes out to 2.5mm or less. Is that normal? Any suggestions on spacers?

You will be fine. I'd PM Mike (AlliancAutoSports) for some of his 1/2" rear spacers to bring the rears out even with the fronts tho. They are like 50 bucks shipped and come with all the stuff needed for the install.

krag, i also run 16x7 +40 offset wheels. my tire size is 205/50/16. I'm lowered on nf210's (about 1.5 inches) and didnt have any rubbing problems, so I assume you should be OK even with your slightly wider tire. After I installed 15mm rear hub spacers, the rear fender now occasionally catches the outside of the tire if I have people in the back seat and I hit a decent size bump at speed. Doesnt happen very often though. Have never had rubbing problems in the front.

Turns out it's OK. Seemed very close to me but I got it checked out and it works even without spacers. Not sure I'd recommend the 215's in the future though. With 205's it'd be better. Thanks for all your advice.
