just with a quick look, is there any tire there that stands out as the ones i should get? price isnt a huge deal if the more expensive tires are worth it. but i am considering getting these --
pirelli p6 f-seasons

They're average choices, but from your first link I would definitly stay away from the General brand tires. As for the Pirellis, I've owned the P6 on my last car with a 205/55/16 size. I got them when they had just came out. They were nice tires, expensive but nice. Handled really good on dry pavement, I had no problems with rain....never hydroplaned, and they were pretty damn good in the snow.
I found from useing the tire calcualtors like on 1010tires.com that a 195/55/15 is almost the same as far as overall size, and revs per mile....only off like .6 or .7mph from original. I got a set of the newly redesigned Goodyear Eagle GT, a high performance all season tire. Its an option to look at to broaden your selection since I've found the stock size to be very limited in selction. O and try looking at www.discounttiredirect.com and see if they carry anything you'd be interested in....they have free shipping and no sales tax.

Remember that the original tire size for the bB was 185/65R15. They switched to 60 series tires for the US, probably for aesthetic reasons. The 65 series will give you a slightly better ride and slightly higher ride height.
I'm on my second set of stockers, but thinking of going to a 195/65R15 when I replace them to get the skirts a bit higher off the ground.

Yea, I know when I was purchasing mine from the local tire place some of the reviews I've read made me at least go with the warranty plan. But I did notice that the majority of them were from people who owned Volvos and Audis, so that lead me to believe that maybe its something to do more with those particular cars. They got me out no problem when my old car was plowed in, and any sort of problems I did encounter was due to the design of the car itself and me learning how to drive it in the winter, not the tires.
so i just ordered four pirelli sport/all season tires as i posted above. the price was awesome - about $345 for the 4 tires WITH shipping. installation should be like 60 or 70, so i'll be way below $500 for the entire deal. not bad at all.
