Default shocks/softer ride

Hi guys,
I need some feedback on shocks. I searched the topic but would like some more info especially from drivers up here in the north where it gets very cold. Are there shocks that improve the ride of the box even in the cold months. Can anybody share their experience? Which shocks work the best for you?
Thanks for the help.
Temps are in single digits here in MN and the roads are rough. I need a softer ride.

Default ........Harsh ride?.....

Why YES, search for Monroe 5987 in the XB suspention section.

I swapped these into my rear and they provide a softer ride.

Search for 5987 and that should get you plenty of shock threads.

For the front, I recommend that you replace the whimpy factory 'FRONT END LINK BUSHINGS' with ENERGY SUSPENTION Bushings for your front sway bar. This will tighten up the front and provide less of a hit when potholes are encountered. (a $15 mod)

Also replace the front struts with some Monroes. You will be very happy with the nice new ride quality. The stock struts/ shocks were set up way too stiff. They do not allow the suspension to absorb the road defects and pass the bumps directly to the passengers.
I've been rollin Monroes for over 2 years with excellent results.

Just put the monroes in the back.... it is utterly amazing how easy the xb is to work on. From zero to changing both shocks, cleaning up all the tools, and vacuuming the entire car 1 hour and 25 mins. Amazing! Will check out the ride tomorrow.

The rears help but the big difference will come with the fronts done too.

The difference with the rear shocks isn't overwhelming. I think it's a little better but I expected a little more. Thanks for the advice though everyone.

Whats to think about? If you want a softer quality ride go Monroes all the way around. If you can afford Konis go for those and get adjustablity. Nuf Sad!
