so i installed some new bulbs today in my VRD fogs, and 20 minutes later, the bulb literally bursted. now there is shattered glass all inside the housing. anyone have ANY idea why this would happen? bad bulb? oil on the bulb? bad fuse?

made by pilot, bought em at autozone....definitely not the best foglights, but one of my bulbs was already burnt out, so i figured id put something in for the time being.....so you think it was oil from my hands? i mean i knew they could burnt out from being touched, but not explode

i've touched my h3 hid bulbs (for the vrd fogs) before, and it hasn't burned out.

Maybe I got lucky =p

 

ive had those pilot bulbs when i had the oem knockoff fogs from ebay... they were just cheapo...

with my vrds i got hid's...
but it just could have been a bad/weak bulb

 

dont touch anything else!!!

i have never heard about the oil from your hands making the light explode, but can you get the shards out of the light?

 

As long as you never touched the bulb the only other thing that I can think of is a water issue.
