I got a shock question for you guys. I need to replace my shocks and struts soon. I know a lot of people use the monroes, but I heard they are really soft and are not great if you toss the box around, is this true? I am a broke college kid, so I cant afford konis or tokicos. What is a good, decently priced shock and strut package that wont hurt handling? When it comes to shocks and struts, I am retarded, so help me out please. :D

If your budget is tight just run them in the rear....

 

kyb gr-2 are a stock replacment but are usually good for up to a 1" spring drop.

 

I'm confused as well! I MUST change mine out this year...

 

I need front and rear soon, probably within 6 months or so.

if your still on stock struts and shocks go with trd's

 

Monroes are fine and a good "cheap" replacement. EAmon the .5" is if you use the front struts for an Echo the perches are moved and you get more of a drop. Handling is cool if you switch to a nice 50 series tire down the road that will make a difference and toss a rear sway in the equasion you are all set for hitting the freeway on ramps! I could hang with my stock 200K struts so you should be fine LOL!

 

I got a few suspension stuff:
rear sway, poly bushings, springs, front and rear strut bar, lower arm bar, rear frame brace.

I just never replaced my stock shocks after lowering the box and she's gonna need new ones pretty soon. I dont want to go "cheap" on the shocks and struts, I just cant afford konis. How much are replacement stock shocks? I am looking for a decently priced shock and strut that wont hurt handling.

I will switch to a 50 series once I need new tires.

 

For front and rear.. Monroes around $280 KYB's around $290

 

At that price I might as well get the trd's

 

what I meant use they trd'd\s or KYB's etc up front and Monroe's in the rear...even use the oem upfront and Monroe's in the rear would ride better..... I know I ran that set up for a while

IMHO they are for the front...but when you run them in rear only it seems to keep the rear planted...fronts remain stiff and rear is more compliant.
