Default Headlights turning off with the door opening

I got a question for fellow xb2 owners... my tc has the feature where when I have the headlights on, and I turn the key off and open the door the headlights shut off automatically

My girlfriends box doesn't do that and it annoys me... has anyone figured out how to re-wire the switch to turn off with the key and back on with the key, or like the tc turn off when you open the door?

Thanks in advance

With a bit of relay trickery it should be possible. Make the headlight wire go through a relay triggered by an IGN switched wire. Ignition off, circuit is open, and headlights wont turn on. Ignition on, circuit is closed and headlights will work with the switch.

That sounds really good on paper, but I am clueless with wiring and don't want to mess anything up.

I do however have a buddy who knows wiring very well, i'll throw this by him when he installs my alarm.

Thanks for the idea

My idea was to wire a relay to the acc or efi fuse as a trigger, then use the relay to power the headlight on wire from the turn signal lever that doubles as the head light switch. I know there is a head light relay, so maybe making drls is possible.

Id leave mines on too if they came and went with the key.

its not that hard just to reach your hand 3 inches from your steering wheel and flick the switch off

Oh god, not another switch or button to push.

They should put the switch back on the floor, so you can just tap it as you enter or exit.

I realize that but it's just a nice little feature that i've grown used to with my tc.

Plus my girlfriend has already gotten flashed at for not turning her lights on, since we live on a very well lit street it's easy to forget. Her last vehicle had DRL's so she isn't used to having the switch.

It makes the vehicle feel more generic without it I think.
