Default New Scion owner here.

Hey guys. I am taking delivery of my 2009 Blackberry Crush Metallic xB on Firday.

Now that I am "officially" a Scion owner, I figure I should finally join up, rather than just lurking in the shadows looking for info like I have been the past 2 months.

Hey, Skittlebrau!

We're siblings!

I got my BCM a couple of weeks ago. Love it. Just look out the window and wave to it. Haven't named her yet.

Are you going to dress her up?

For sure! I already have a spoiler sitting in my living room, and a pioneer F90BT NAV/DVD that should be here Friday. I have the fog light order going in today, and they are putting the 16" alloys on her Friday morning before I pick her up!

One thing I found out, I know WAY more about these cars than the dealership does, a bit scary isn't it??

I got the alloy wheels right away, and I said, "I DO get to keep my steel wheels and hubcaps right?"

And the salesman AND the service department guy both looked at me like I was drunk.

The salesman said, "well $800 is a low price for alloys, so I don't think so"

I countered with "Well, I can get a full set of factory OEM wheels from Sparks, shipped to my house for 662.98, and I can have them mounted and balanced for less than the 40 you are charging me"

He looked flustered, so the Service guy says " Yeah, but you are going from a 15" tire to a 16" so the cost difference is a credit for your stock steel wheels probably"

So I responded, "No, the xB comes with 16" wheels. the alloys use the exact same tire as the steels. Trust me guys, I have been breathing Scion for the bast two or three months, and I know what I am talking about. I am paying over $100.00 more to have you guys do it, because it saves me the hassle of ordering the parts, waiting for shipping, taking an afternoon off work, going to a tire shop, and having them mounted, and risk them messing up my tire pressure sensors. But if I am losing my steel wheels and hubcaps that I payed for, that price difference becomes a LOT higher, and we would need to rewrite that contract.... "

SO they say they need to call the service department manager the next day to find out for sure...and the steelies and caps are mine. I wonder how many free sets of wheels and caps this and other dealer have gotten for free form people who don;t do the research??

This also scares me away from doing too much dealer install work. sure the extra warranty is nice and all, but how can I trust them not to cut my brake line or something if they don't even know what size tires come on the car! (Plus they wanted over $800.00 to install XM radio for me!)

@Skittlebrau

Hey man, i know what you mean about some of these dealerships not knowing anything. I'm getting my xB sometime this summer so I went to check them out a few weeks ago and the guy couldn't even tell me what came standard on them. Luckily I was able to teach him a few things. I even once met sales guy that referred to our cars as SKY-ONs lol.

Also your right about keeping your stock wheels, I always thought it was strange that more people didn't ask to keep them. But nowadays most people just order from sparks. The only thing that's actually cheaper to get from the dealer is the premium HU, but I think for that they do have to keep the stock one. Anyone here manage manage to keep their stock HU when upgrading to premium?

Also, you might want to hold off on that xm thing. I just heard they may be filing for bankruptcy soon.

For the HU they DO keep the old one, which is why it's cheaper.

As far as Siruis/XM...I think they are just as afraid of the economy as everyone else. they see a potential failure of GM (one of their largest sources of new subscribers) and folks cutting costs by skimping down on luxuries.

I think they are just angling for some of that bail out money! Also, bankruptcy is used quite often to restructure and reorganize, it doesn't mean they will pull the plug. There IS income Lots of it, they have just been handling it wrong with the merger.

All of this is to set them up for price hikes, channel cuts, more commercials and excuses to fire / price cut those huge salaries they were giving out in the "Siruis or XM?" battles before they merged.

hehe, look at that I high-jacked my own thread...

When I bought my Xb1 the dealership gave my my "originals" after they installed TRD's. Same dealer 2 years later, Axis wheels, they keept the originals. No big deal as my garage is full anyway. I HATE ALL DEALERS, ask me about Don McGill in Houston before you buy from there!

I can see it going both ways with the steelies-- after all, if you ordered the "Premium" sound to be installed at the dealership, you couldn't reasonably expect to keep the base model stereo.

It depends on if the wheels were purchased as an option on the car, or purchased separately. (Much like purchasing the aftermarket DVD nav, it's not like you have to send the old stereo back to Pioneer when you install it.)

I was like you with Scion when it came to the Prius. I often had to explain to the salesman how the Hybrid Synergy Drive worked.

I love the name, but I still prefer Duff Dry to Skittlebrau. But I guess you're OK as you're not drinking Fudd.

I LOVE this thing. it is so tiny from the outside, but SO much room and COOL stuff on the inside, I keep finding new stuff every time I get it the box!

I have almost been hit twice while folks were rubber necking to check it out too!!!

(I have only seen 2 other 2nd gen xB's in about a 50 mile radius, so it is an un common sight here.

Best vehicle I have ever purchased! Can't wait to start getting the mods put on.

Yep. It snowed the night before we got it, so it was filthy dirty about 5 seconds off the lot, but she is back all shiny now, and I will get some picks up later tonight.

The fog lights, spoiler, c pillar storage and satellite radio stuff will be here tuesday, and I'll get pics of those too!

Our alloy wheels will be in this week also! (we decided to go with the factory 16" wheels for now. they are pretty sharp, and we could roll the cost into our payment to free up some cash for other mods)

here she is from about 5 minutes after we drove off the lot. of course it snowed the night before so it got all dirty.

Since this, I installed Sirius satellite radio in the dash, using a TOY-SC1 and the SC-C1 combo. I routed the antenna through the firewall and mounted it under the cowl. clean look no external ANYTHING, no wires anywhere, it came out really nice, and I have not had any signal problems yet.

I also put on the spoiler last night. I got some pictures, but I forgot my camera at home, but I'll get them up tonight! Speaking of tonight, it is at the dealer right now getting my alloys installed, a new set of floor mats (since mine had one missing and a tear in one of them), and they are doing some paint work on a couple of nicks that were in the front bumper.

Fog lights and c-pillar nets are also here, just trying to get time to install them, and I just ordered one of the South East Toyota rear bumper protectors that are actually molded plastic, and not the skateboard tape.

Please resize that pic. 1824x1368 is just inordinately large and causes display problems with the rest of the page.

Ahhh, much better!

I'm looking at an xB in Blackberry Crush-- I'd prefer super white (my '01 Corolla LE is in Super White) but my wife really likes the blackberry. If that nautical blue were still available I'd probably get that...

Yeah, we saw the BCM on the website, and both instantly fell in love. We are already planning on getting another one next year, and unless the RS 7.0 next year is purple (BOTH of our favorite colors), we will probably get the super white as well! It really is a sharp car in white.

Here we are as of an hour ago. Even with just the factory 16"ers, getting rid of those hubcaps, and adding the spoiler changed the entire look of the car!
