Default help with rotors

i found these rotors and was wondering if anyone knew anything about them.. also when getting new rotors like these, will it change the position of where the caliper is at at all? because with the rims i have, there is almost no space what so ever in between the spokes and caliper.. i wasnt sure if putting aftermarket rotors on could possibly bring the caliper any closer for some reason..

anyway. what about these?

nice thing about these stop-techs are that they can take way more abuse than those junk stock ones and they look good while doing that

yea i need a rotor that cant take abuse, i usually drive 100 miles a day, sometimes more, so i need all the help i can get in the brake department hahaha.

plus, i just got new rims, and now the rotor isnt hidden behind the steelie anymore, so that is another reason i am wanting to upgrade.

Junk? I've got almost 120K on my original rotors and pads. I'd say it has more to do with the driver.

There was someone selling rotors in the PPC.

he is rite! it has to do with the driver! stock parts will last a while as long as your not an agressive driver. upgrading is always an option.

hey ScionicMan , must be something to do with the color of our boxes, you know the original RS

I got just an RCH from 100,000 on the same rotors and pads.

An awful lot of techs on this site now.

It must be the yellow paint I slapped on them. The 14lb wheels with max airspace probably don't hurt either. I'm badly in need of some new shocks and maybe struts. The ride is getting rather rough.

I don't think I'd classify it as an argument. People can choose not to believe me. it doesn't change anything. Not sure why someone would lie about this sort of thing. As an IT tech, I've seen a lot of things, but I'm always learning new stuff. I guess they teach Scion techs EVERYTHING from the start...

I guess I rounded up a bit. Looking this morning, I'm at about 116,500. Maybe that will make it more acceptable. I've wanted slotted rotors for a long time but couldn't bring myself to pay to replace something that was working. I figured I'd get them when I did the brakes... I won't touch brakes. I painted the calipers in place because i know where to draw my limits, like I won't try to repair a CRT monitor. Gabe does all the heavy work like that for me and he's never done them. Anyone's welcome to inspect them. The rotors are still smooth. I hardly get any brake dust buildup. I always thought it was from the airflow thru the wheels, but maybe its also because there wasn't much created. I've driven a lot of cheap little cars for 25 years and the first 10-15 years I could barely afford repairs, so I drive in a style to minimize wear. It's not always a conscious thing. I've noticed recently, since realizing how long these have lasted, that I give a real light touch and often release and slowly reapply the brakes when coming to a stop sign, etc. In the last month or so, the brake light will come on when I accelerate really hard into a turn, but it's just the fluid getting low, cuz I'm not braking at the time and it goes off after 10-20 seconds past the turn.

JJGeneral - This was taken on the way back from Scion United last May.
