Default Does anyone use 2 cycle Premix in the Xb2?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is using a 2 cycle TC-W3 type oil mixed in with gas on their XB? I have read a number of forums for other types of vehicle were some people swear by it..claiming it provides more protection, smoother engine,,,even better MPG. I Know Lucas makes an UCL ..but I think that is jus snake oil.

Just curious. It seems it could not hurt IF it was a full synthetic type.

The best thing to do is use what it states in your owner's manual at least while you still have warranty.

This sounds like a good way to plug the 12 tiny injection holes for the ultra-fine-atomization fuel injectors found on the 2AZ.

If you want to do additives, why not put in an oil additive like a non-abrasive PTFE in the crankcase?

Adding oil to the gas couldn't be good for the injectors or the cat in the long run. I wouldn't try it.

I also heard that at 10,000 miles we need to change our blinker fluid! And oil our muffler bearings!

All kidding aside bro don't use ANY 2cycle pre-mix oil in your gas tank.

Really though man, that Lucas oil additive is super awesome, you'll notice a difference when you change your oil after you use it. And their gas additive is good too. I swear by their stuff, especially after having help build a few dwarf cars that use Lucas products.

OK OK..I got it. No premix. I did some further investigation and discovered it was more of a race track type thing on cars that don't have a CAT or normal emissions control devices.

That said. The idea has left my mind. In response to Lucas Oil..I used to run the Lucas fuel treatment. I honestly could not tell a difference in MPG or smoothness. I'm testing out the other common fuel treatment Marvel Mystery Oil..so far I've noticed a smoother idle and appear to be staying above 30 MPG. However, its going to take a couple of tanks and actual numbers before I make a statement about its effectiveness.

I might later experiment with an xylene + MMO type mix. I will be touring the conocophillips refinery later this week for business...maybe I can snag some info on fuel production to share.

Sea-Foam FTW!
I use this stuff in everything I own that is IC. From chain saws to my cars, truck and boat. Makes a very noticeable difference.

Its a fuel treatment like Lucas or Marvel Mystery Oil... Its good stuff I used to use it when I had a Saturn Ion Redline, I noticed a difference after 2 tanks used with Seafoam.

Thanks for the tip ! Did a little follow up research and it looks good -- I plan to get the "Motor Treatment" and "Deep Creeper" for my 1990 Eclipse!

Ive heard of guys using acetone in gas and diesel engines for improved economy. Some swear it works.

I used to use MMO in all of my 4x4s (mostly Toyota Land Crushers), and it did seem to help. I've not used it in my Scions, though I might try it for a few tanks to see how it does (MMO is mostly Stoddard Solvent and a super thin oil, and a couple percent clorinated benzene, with a bit if wintergreen scent and red dye added, and at the quantity recommended shouldn't bother the cat at all).

That has been tested out in our engines and it DOES NOT work - search for acetone here on ScionLife.com and you should be able to find info on that...

Motorcycle guys swear by Seafoam as a carb cleaner. It should also clean injectors but I doubt that it's the very best additive for injectors. A lot of old-time mechanics swear by ATF to clean carbs but I wouldn't try it with a FI engine or with cats. I might try ATF in my twin-carb motorcycle.
