So it has been 230,000 miles on the OE rear brakes I figured I might as well address them, nothing like a little procrastination! Plus the eBrake doesn't work for sliding the boxes butt around corners anymore and I have had a brand new set of shoes on a shelf that I bought at 100,000..

Around 80,000 I peeked inside the drums and with my good buddy Mr. Soto AKA Stylis giving advice we determined that an adjustment was all that was needed and buttoned everything back up. Now I hate drums, something about them confuses me so I ignored them for 150,000 miles but as I was changing the lines and had the shoes I figured I'll resurface the drums pop the pads in and round out the entire braking system. Fast fwd to the auto store -> Drums are to far gone had to order a new set, you can see the shoes state by looking at the leading shoe (the one in front) it's gone, needless to say you should take better care of your rears than I did and don't let it go this far! I changed the driver side first using the passenger side as a guide for when I forgot where something came from it wasn't as bad as I remembered and the passenger side was a breeze...Ok not that easy but it took 1/3 of the time. Needless to say the brakes feel 110% better now!

how much did you pay for your drums?

 

$90 for both and a can of brake cleaner. I didn't shop around I got them from the first local place that had them in but they are Centric parts.

 

230k that is crazy but i know how it goes i have 96k on my dually with stock brakes and i tow upto 15k all the time.
