How do 17s" look with the stock height?
hotbox hit the nail on the head with that one... ____.
ive got 17s with 205-40-17 tires. it would fill it up better with 205-45-17s but i got mine in a package so no choice. im just saving up to lower it. its about the same as stock essentially but it makes it look odd still

Actually, if the tire is larger than the factory size the odometer will read less than what you actually drove. A larger tire means it has a larger circumfrence which translates into more distance for each revolution.
Anyhow, this is a pic of mine with 17s and no drop.

With drop.

heres a better question- how does a stock xb look? ANSWER- it needs a drop!
So you can imagine how bad it looks with 17"+ wheels!
i would LOVE to drop mine, but with the winters we get here- thats not going to happen!

its actually the other way around i think, if the diameter is larger than stock (total) than the circumferance is larger, meaning the time it takes to make one full rotation, what your milage is based on is actually more than its calibrated to thin......thats why my former (read dead) s-10 read 55 when i was going 70 after the pre-runner transformation, switching from a 205 tire (27 in to a 30 in

Overall larger tire diameter than stock will log less miles and a slower speed without recalibration. For example:
Stock (185/60/15) Vs. 17's (205/45/17)
60 mph Vs. 58.7 mph
100 miles Vs. 97.8 miles
Speedometer difference would be 2.192 % too slow, and Diameter Difference is +2.15%.

what i meant was that 205/40/17's are too smalle meaning your speedo will say 70mph but you'll only be going like 65 or so meaning yer car will say u drove 10 miles but only covered like8 somethin miles in actuality lol

I think you can get away with not dropping an xB
An xA is another story....
My xB is on 225/40/18, stock springs, looks fine....
If anything I would get TRD's just for better cornering.

If anyone is interested in seeing how different wheels would work check out this link. You can see different rims at different heights
