3 scion models are in the 10 ten list of pulled over cars
ATLANTA (MyFOX ATLANTA) - A new list released by the insurance industry listed the top 10 most ticketed cars. The study was done by a San Francisco company that specializes in helping insurance companies identify risks.
The company looked at the records of 1.7 million drivers and the research suggests that what cars people drive may indicate their driving styles.
Three Scion models rank in the top 10 for the most ticketed vehicles.
While the Scion holds down second and third place on the list, the Hummer ranks number one.
"I've probably been pulled over twice. Both times no ticket was given," said Hummer owner Alan Bridges.
Bridges said he got his fair share of stares. The H-2 Bridges drives is a roving billboard for his warehouse rack business. That attention may also get the attention of law enforcement.
"And what appears to be crossing over the line which most cops think is DUI or a problem, it's a big truck. It does stray across the line because it's line to line," said Bridges.
Number four on list is the Mercedes CLK 63 followed by the Toyota Solara Coupe, the Mercedes CLS 63, the Scion XA, the Subaru Outback, the Audi A4 and the Toyota Matrix.
Why some models are stopped and ticketed more than others is open to debate. Driver attitude is one of the top theories.
"When they get into a certain type of car, they feel empowered," said Trooper Steve Gaskins.
Gaskins said he saw that trait particularly in youth, but he added that pulling over a driver merely because of the type of vehicle they drove was a big stretch.
"Personally, as a trooper I don't care what car it is. If it's a station wagon going 90 miles and not the Hummer, the station wagon gets stopped," said Gaskins.
The vehicles with the lowest number of tickets were Buicks, minivans, pick-up trucks, the Chevy Tahoe and the Chevy Suburban.

This is really about the 50th time this has been posted. And I'm really only exaggerating a LITTLE with that because it has been posted a LOT!
