It's been around for quite some time now but I don't think the mods would like this thread too much.

whats wrong with ScionLife? That other site is filled with regurgitated info swaying enthusiasts decision to buy crap. Atleast we keep it real here and if there are any questions you'll get real advice, good or bad.

You should wait til april 1st to post something like this.

I see how the guy at the gm dealer I was at getting parts for my metro felt when he tried to sell me a new car and I told him I already had one, an 09 xb.

I don't think the mods will mind all that much.

There are a lot of other Scion sites out there, but when it comes right down to it, ScionLife.com is the most versatile, and connected with the widest range of the community.

Heck, even I am a member of another site or two dedicated to my interests - including my xB Classic. :D

(In fact my little xB was featured ride of the month on another site. Nothing wrong with being a member of more than one.)

exactly, i thought this was a community and not a bunch of elitists. I find newscionxb quite helpful at times, It has the same core group of regulars so you know where their advice is coming from.

I agree. When I first bought my xB2, I avoided asking questions on SL because I knew I'd get a lot of snot-nosed answers just from reading about and seeing how the newbies were treated sometimes. I found when I asked questions on newscionxb, the answers might be slow in coming, but they were quality, and always answered with respect. Sometimes I wonder if some of the elitism around here does more to scare off new prospective owners and new community members, rather than inviting them in. Every forum has this type of nonsense, but newscionxb is just *nicer* most days, if less active, than SL is (these afore posts kinda proving my point). As it is, I check both every day. Good info and some good people on both.

thats most likely because most of the information being asked has been asked numerous times and people get tired of explaining it over and over. Most people never search because if they searched for their issue, chances are it has already been answered by someone else. This is a busier site, of course people are going to get annoyed the amount of times people ask about which springs to go decide on or if 245/35/19's will fit etc etc.....

I only say this because I'm a new owner myself of the xb2, but I've been on this board since 05 so I've been reading up on alot of useful info owners go through.

I can see how that would get very annoying, but if one doesn't know were to look than one will never find the answer. Also, asking questions and getting a total stranger to give you an answer is all part of the Scion community. That is what can and will bring people together. I have seen a few threads like. I just bought a 06 tC. What size engine does it have in it? now that's LAZY!! just lift the hood. BUT in the case of mods.... If someone has already tried a particular part, and someone else posts a tread about which part should they buy.. (NO MATTER HOW OBVIOUS, OVER POSTED, OR ANNOYING) it should be treated as a new subject! maybe just direct them to an existing tread so they can read whats already been discussed rather than replying the same info again............ SO, BOTH SL & NSxB are great sites..

I agree. The reason people ask those questions is BECAUSE THEY'RE NEW. Plus, the search thread doesn't always yield the info you're looking for if you don't know the correct search terms to use; it's also not terribly advanced. A simple, polite redirection wins out against pushing away a new member and it's extremely easy to do.

You're right, we were all noobies at some point, that's why I always give the links to the helpful threads before a friendly prodding with:

is your friend.
