Hey all, I want my XB to have the wheels sticking out just a tad (not sitting flush) with the fenders. I have some 17x7 rims with a 40 offset with 205/40/17 tires and they are tucked in too much for my taste (especially the rears). I researched/read alot of info on spacers/shims here and elseware but not sure what will be the best option. too many choices. What should I do..., if spacers, how many mm do I need with the 40 offset?

looking for something like this stance:

 

Sell your wheels and get a set of 15X8 0 offset.

 

And be prepared to deal with rubbing.

yea if you dont want to have a flushed look 0 offset is your

best bet. but like burnt said prepare for rubbing. iam on 16x8 with a 0 offset. but rubbing only occurs on on

pavement that's uneven. while turning.with 2 or more people loaded with you.

but if your by-yourself you should be fine.

that'll do it. but, the rear will still be in more than the front, so some 10mm hub spacers will even things out. you'll definately need a fender rolling, unless your 95 pounds and have no family or friends to roll with you.

 

the pic you posted look like he has the 0 offset in the rear and the 15 offset in the front.

ive got 16x8+15 with 195/50/16 and was rubbing in the rear, but im sittin low realy low on a custom setup.
i rolled the rear fenders and installed a -3 camber so i could go a little lower.
then intalled a 1/2" spacer in the rear.











thats about as low as i can go in the town i live in, ive i were to try and go any lower i would't be able to get around half the city

 

first, thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I want to keep my rims and not go down to 15", so I'm scrapping the 15x8 w/0 offset idea.

to answer some questions: I have a hot lava in miami. Also about the rubbing, I'm not doing a drastic drop, just something like 1" with TRD springs.

So my main question before I do anything else is if I keep 17x7 w/40 offset and buy 15mm spacers for the front and 25mm spacers for the rear what will I end up with? Will they be flush or sticking out (for sure they won't be tucked like they are now right)?

 

your current offset is +40
you said you want a 15 spacer up front and a 25 in the rear.
so.. you would end up with a +25 offset in the front and +15 in the rear.
it wouldn't look bad but it wouldn't give you flush look your going for.

#1 "wheel spacers" are bad news, too much can got whrong and no machanic shop will touch your car after you install them because of the liability issues.
the people you see on here doing rear spacers are "hub type" spacers and is completely different, and safe.

belive me................. this will be alot eaiser on you if you just get a different set of wheels with the right offset.

 

You could try changing the tire size and going with a rear hub spacer. The smaller tire might be exaggerating the look of it being too tuck in. I ran a 215/45R17 on my 17X7's. If you look in my profile you can see how they looked, but I didn't have the rear hub spacers in yet in that pic.

 

I've heard all kinds of things from wheel spacers mostly bad. But if anything I'll get hubcentric adapter spacers like these:
