It was finally a nice day out, and i decided what the heck, i was going to try to make a grill for the upper portion. I painted it black clearcoated it, and used mesh wire from home depot. My mom says it looks horrendous cause from far away it doesnt look like anything is there, and says i should just buy one. What is your honest opinion?

Get that off there, and put your Scion grill back on before anybody else sees it.

 

Go to your room------stay there and you ain't gittin no supper!

 

Wow that is pretty bad. Put the stock one back on, looks like you have no grill.

yeah, i couldnt find any thick wire. Thanks everybody, OEM grill is back on already...

 

oem grill i think looks better. even up close, u can clearly see everything that suppose to be covered up by the grill

it looks like everyone is in agrement here.
your first mod attempt is a fail.
nice try, don't give up, the best stuff is custom stuff you did yourself.
75% of the mods to my car is custom stuff i made myself.
it takes hard work and some times a little trial and error.

 

1st attempt = FAIL

try again though, i am all for custom mods and they get better with experience.

 

i say you black out the stock grill and color match the scion letters to the car or another color to make it stand out. thats what i did and it look good.

 

Wow, as I was reading your first post and then saw the first pic on my screen, I actually thought it was just a pic of where you removed the grille to do something else in that area...

Then I read that WAS your new grille.

at least you tried, but word to the wise. Home depot doesnt bode well with car modding.
