Default KONI FRONT Struts Alter TOP HATS??

I have had my koni struts for about 2 years now. I just switched from Vogtland to TRD springs. Anyway, as the springs were getting installed the tech. noticed the rod part on the strut did not "key" completely into the top hat.

He was able to put them together with no problem. And the mech that put them on for me originally never mentioned it.

I called KONI and the tech. guy was sorta breezy about it. The instructions do not mention modification, either.

I guess I am OK?

Should be fine. As long as the spring is tight in there and the top hat is secured properly, it'll be fine.

heh when i first installed my springs few years back i didn't know it was keyed to fit in the top hat...

yeah i destroyed both sides and even with my alinment was all f-ed up due to that too even after the alinment shop did their thing...

when i replaced both of 'em fixed it right up...

didn't cost me very much to replace 'em

were you getting any kind of noise over bumps because of that, or odd vibrations, or was the alignment just off?

I just got the car aligned again and the camber bolt reset because of the new spring install. Anyway, the mech said the konis look good and they are fine. He made a scrunchy face when I asked if the tophats should be drilled out.
