Default Need to know about offset

I have never purchased aftermarket wheels befor I am getting an xA and need to know if a 16x7 with a 40 offset would work I checked the info above and it said a 33 offset could someone explain this to me please...

ok.........

offset has to do with the distance that the difference between wheels lug surface(monting to hub/brake rotor) and the centerline of the wheel.....

zero offset means its exactly on the wheels centerline......
33 offset means is 33mm "offset" from the centerline.....
40 offset vs 33means that the mounting is more towards the outside of the wheel then 33 so the wheel edge on the inside will be 7mm closer to the suspension then the 33mm offset.


More offset= tucked closer to suspsnsion
Less offset= wheel pushed out more towards fender lip.

Make sense?
