Koni Shocks on Sale @ Tire Rack until 6/30/10
Hey Everyone,
I just thought I would pass along the good deal I found on Koni Sport shocks for the xA/xB which Tire Rack has a 25% discount on. Depending on shipping costs, they are ~$505 shipped which is ~$60 cheaper than the next lowest price I found.

Just ordered a set for my box in hopes to restore some handling now that my stock shocks are pretty much done at 60k mi.

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered last week, and just received them last night. Now for a clear weekend to do the transformation.
Tanabe df210 springs
TRD rear sway bar
Koni shock and struts
Hotchkis strut tower brace.
All go on soon.
Already had 215/45-17 tires.
Fun car, soon to be funner.
Cheers, Phil

Got the car back this morning with all the new toys on the suspension. I ran short of time, so I had the local shop do the work. Rides real nice, but its raining really hard here today, so not much of chance to test out the suspension. Less tire spin in the rain though.

Just installed mine this weekend. I'm running 1.5 turns from soft(~38% stiffness) in the rear and 1.25 turns from soft(~50% stiffness) in the front. The handling is great, but may be a little too stiff for daily driving.
Overall, very happy with the upgrade along with the polyurethane front swaybar endlink bushings.

HEY ITGB,
What springs are you running? I put on the Tanabe df210 springs. Car looks great, and corners really well, but its a bit stiff for a commute car. I'm thinking of going back to stock springs. I left the shocks at their softest settings when I installed them, and it seems to have plenty of damping.

I'm running Tein H-Techs. They are only supposed to drop 1.0in, but my xB has dropped probably 2.0in. They are not overly stiff, but if you have your shocks adjusted to full soft with the Tanabe's, I don't know what to tell you. Switching the front swaybar endlink bushings to the Energy Suspension polyurethane type did help dampen certain bumps better. You may want to give that a try before ditching the springs.

The three improvements I would recommend:
1. Energy Suspension end-link replacement bushings
2. Energy Suspension lower control arm bushings
3. Rear Sway Bar
If you are on 15s, run with a 50 or 55 series tire with a good sidewall... not too stiff. The Falken Zeix 912s are very good. I roll with 18s and have no problems with "how stiff" the suspension is in comparison to the stock options.

+1 on the H techs. They claim 1 inch drop but are closer to 1.5". The ride quality was top notch with Monroes all around and should be the same with the Konis.
What size tires you running BTW? If I run the 18s it rides like poo but with the 15" 195/60s it's like butta.
Yeah, well, I was anxious to get the parts on the car, and had no time. After living with the Tanabe springs, I'm seriously thinking of going back to the stock springs. I love the cornering, but the bulk of the my driving is on a freeway, and the ride is just too harsh, even with the Koni's dialed down.
So the change back to stock, I will do.

Yeah, the only Konis you can get are the Sport. Even though they show different categories for the shocks, it's still the same. Notice the part numbers are the same in the different sections.
yeah i just noticed that. i guess thats what happens when you dont really pay attention.
