Default I have some question on the Koni's I just bought.

Going to install on a '06 xB. I just ordered some Koni Yellows from Tire Rack before the sale went off. I have many irons in the fire at the moment and will not be installing them for a while. When I took them out of the box and looked at them I had a few questions.

1. I take it there isn't a left and right front strut? They are both the same, I guess this is to keep production costs down?

2. The front struts have "tool *****" that came with them. I seems they can be adjusted when installed. Is this true?

3. The directions for the rear shocks aren't detailed. It show putting them in vise to adjust them. Can these be adjusted on the vehicle?

I was reading some recent posts and some people are saying they like the Monroe for a daily driver, but I read in past post most people saying they are close to the Koni on full soft. I guess I will see when I put them on and try them out. Personally I was never a fan of the Monroe "sense-a-crap." I've had two personal experiences with them and was not impressed. They are supposed to be a softer ride, but I think they are generally under dampened even for a stock spring.

Both are the same no need for a difference?

Yes, Both front and rear are adjustable instructions for adjustment are on Koni's web site

They can be adjusted on the vehicle, but you must jack the car up and take off the lower mount each time you want to make an adjustment (it takes twisting the shock body)

Good luck

Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought for the rear shock adjusting. Jacking up the car isn't big deal, but it would have been more convenient if the rear worked the same as the front.

Default Additonal question:

Are they gas charged?

Most every shock or strut I've installed is (nitrogen) gas charged. I take it the Koni's are not, since they do not extend automatically.

I thought most performance shocks were gas charged because the gas keeps the oil from foaming, which makes the dampening less effective.

Also what are the white C shaped plastics discs with the slot cut in them supposed to do or be used for? It shows them installed on the top of the shock body around the shaft.

The front struts are adjustable with a ****. For our application the rear shocks (80 series) need to be unmounted to adjust them. here is the adjustment procedure for xB rear Konis, If I recall there are 4-5 diff settings for ours.

Xb part #'s page

rear xB adjustment procedure ( make sure you are reading the 80 series, there are several diff types)

I did read through the directions on the site. They are clear, it is nice how the fronts adjust, a bummer how it takes a little more work to do the rear. But for me once I set them that will be the end of it.

Of course I will fool around with the firmest setting just to see how insane the box will handle. But I bought them to hopefully smooth out the high speed highway bounce that the xB is plaged with. We will see how this works out and report back to the masses.

No takers on the gas charged question???
