Rear struts to hold more weight
I have a 2005 xb - 127,000 miles - stock spring setup w/rear swaybar.
I replaced my stock rear struts with Monroe 5601.
I have a trailer hitch(don't flame me) that I use with my bike rack a couple of times a year.
I had a problem with cupping on my rear tires - the tire dealer said my rear struts were gone, and gave me a new set tires under warranty. I replaced the Monroes at this time with new struts and now after 5-6000 miles I am starting to get cupping on the rear tires again. Tire dealer says rear struts that cause this wear.
So I am going to replace the struts again (first time one strut may have been bad).
Should I just replace with the Monroe strut again? Should I use somthing like the Konis that are adjustable? Will they help with the weight - or is that purely the springs? One thing I noticed when going from stock struts to Monroe struts - when I put any weight in the way back, or 2 people in the back seat with weight in the way back the car does seam to sit lower than stock.
When the car is at rest it sits at stock height.

You need some spring helpers. It should get you started on what to look for.

I was thinking about those as well i need something to help me out when i load my car or have people in it because my tires rub but dont want to have to get air bags and lose my ride that my lowering springs offer me.Just something that will help with loads when i need it seems like a pretty cheap fix.Anyone have these?

On the tutorial I see some adjustable spring bases - I am stock so I assume I do not need those? Is this correct?

Thanks Transporter - I ordered set of custom springs from RoadMagnet...said may take a couple of trys to get the height right. He made up a pair for a locksmith that was carrying a lot of weight in the back of his XB. Cost was $165 shipped.
