the maximum offset would depend on how wide your wheel is.

isnt offset the measurement from the hub to how much the lip extends out?

width usually extends inwards.
offest extends outward?

ok, i think i'm finally getting this offset stuff.

so if the rim is 8" wide and the offset is +50 then the face of the wheel is set 50mm outward from dead center? which would in turn give you about a 1.8" lip on the rim?

Those offsets are way wrong. I am running 19X8.5" ADR's with a +35mm Offset. +50mm will sit way too far in and rub the inside of the inner fenders on the backside of the wheel. The optimum offsets are between +30 and +35mm for the TC depending on rim width.
