Default Wheel Vibrations

I know many of you have some sweet rims. I wonder if any of you have problems with wheel vibrations. I own these Extreme Drag wheels, 17", and I get mad vibrations around 65+MPH. The vibrations go away occasionally, but come back when I decelerate.

I did 2 things to try and solve the vibration problem:

1) I went to get my wheels balanced. It solved it for a while, but the vibrations were still there.

2) I bought hub centrics for my wheels. One dealer said my wheels didn't need them since it could lug-centric instead. Another said I needed it.

What should I do??? I am not going to pay 1000 for new wheels!! hehe

Also, it kind of may sound stupid but, I wonder if it has to deal with my towerbar

Here's what i would do to try and isolate the problem. First, put your stock tires and wheels back on. Does the vibration go away? NO - not your new wheels, YES - the wheels. So if it goes away, then put two wheels on the front and the stocks on the back. Try that then swap the other pair of wheels into the front. This can narrow it down to a pair of wheels if its just one thats bad. Try a few different combinations as needed until you can isolate when the problem happens. Hope that helps...

Thanks!

I was about to do that but, seeing that i'm super lazy to put back my stock wheels... haha I could have solved this problem a while back.

You mean to tell me to drive it on the free way with my 2 wheels plus my 2 stock wheels? Oh man, I think I'm going to have some rubber necking on the road LOL.

Yup. They are low pros... Then i guess it is the wheels.

But oh well, I think i'll rebalance it again when I get new tires anyway. But... damn, I only rotated them once.. so I got a good 10,000 or 15,000 before I change them holy...

Are they cupping? how often do you rotate them? If you run your hand along the tread on the front, does it feel like there's a lot of ups and downs? Like there's a ridge at each tread? Feel the rears to compare, they'll be more even. Because the front wheels turn, it changes how they wear compared to the rears that track the same way generally.

Well I got these wheels in OCT2004, ran about 6000 miles on the front, rotated recently so they're in the rear.

I'll check later tonight for cupping.

The Hub Rings didn't help at all? Maybe you have a small bend in one of your wheels? Did you flat spot your tires ever?

*sigh*

It has come to my attention that, the problem is at the source. It's the wheels. I believe I got sucked up into a REAL good buy for 4-17' wheels at the low low price of 675 with zrated tires.

I switched back to the original stock 15' wheels and found little vibrations at 65+ mpH. YOu can't imagine how happy i was when I felt no vibrations. But as sad it can be, my car didn't look neat like everyone elses xBs so I had to put back my 17s'.

The vibrations came back when I hit the free way and well, I just have to deal with it till i get enough money to buy newer ones!

I might have to sell these babys soon... but donno when. PM me if you're interested i guess... selling it for 625 with about 5000+ miles on the tires. But I guess no one wants hahahaha
