Default Widest tires that fit tC stock wheels?

I'm about to get new tires for AutoXing. I have street wheels and tires, so I'm going to use my stock wheels purely on the track. Do any of you know the widest I can go with on the stock tC rims. I was thinking 225/40/17, but I would like to go wider if possible. Any suggestions?

Oh yeah, the tires I want to use are Falken Azenis.

hey ... if u check out http://members.aol.com/agspeed/tiresize.htm you can see that the 215/45-17s can be Plus Zero'd to 235/40-17s ... and you will have the same diameter of tire .. i cant attest for the rim supporting that width or if that size will rub .. thats all i can figure right now .. and btw the 225/40-17s are shorter in diameter then stock .. you will have a speedometer thats off

Yeah I know. 40 is the lowest profile I can get the Azenis in for 17's. Besides, I'm using these only for AutoX. Speedometer's useless there anyway.

According to this: [ur]http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/assignTireVehicle.do?yr=2005&vid=008806[/url] I can get them Plus Zero'd to 245/40/17. I'd like to do that if it would work. Thanks for the help.

all of the tire places i've contacted so far said that 225 will fit the stock wheels but that's the widest they'd recommend on a 7"..and that 235 or 245 should really go on an 8" or larger width...

the 225/45-17s will be taller then stock .. but they will fit ... they will be like a third of an inch too tall ... not a huge deal i guess .. not a whole lot wider tho either .. less then a half inch ...

If you go wider than 225 you will be out of STS and into STX or FSP.

Well I went with 225/45/17's. Don't worry James, I'm staying in STS.

Here are the tires I got:
