Default To Drop or NOT to Drop

Dat Ees Zee Kuestion...

Been seeing many "Ghetto Look" autos lately...20"+ wheels, really HIGH look...Went to a wheel place, only wheels he had were 20" and bigger!!!...

Is that the NEW thing?..I got springs, but, now, I don't know if I should install to "drop" my XB ..My 18" wheels look really SMALL next to these cars! That really burns me..I thought the LOW look was happening...

Any one out there in SCION land with the "NEW" look?

I would definetly drop your box. Now I am not sure about going 19's or 20's I think I'd pass on that. Go 17's or 18's.

I am going to be putting goldlines on my xB for a 2" drop and will be going with some 17" rims.

Stick with your 18's they will look good.

I think it is silly to go along with a "look." Who cares what people are putting on their SUVs, you have a Scion and hopefully you bought it because you didn't want an SUV. Your car is small to begin with, so a rim that is say 17, 18, or even 19 is going to look big on your car. I've seen an xB with 20s and I wasn't impressed. Not to mention you would be negating any benefits of the awesome gas mileage our cars get by bolting on heavy ___ chrome wheels.

You can still drop it and put 19's on it. Mine's dropped 2 inches and have 19's on it and haven't had any issues.

Yup, a 2 inch drop can be had and still be able to run 19s.

And those black TRDs are bad @$$! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

drop that box and slap those 18's on, you'll love it once it's done.

Sorry if a little off topic looked like you guys could answer question. (When you drop one say with 17s do you need rubberband tires ? Whats biggest wheel with a drop you can get without rubberband tires?

My plan is to drop it with DF 210s and put a nice 15" wheel on it.

They only raise them because they don't want to spend the real money to make them fit right while lowered. All that engineering and fab work would cut down on their funds to buy the wheels and tires.
They want to run the fancy wheels and this is the only cheap way.

Do your own thing and lower it and go with 17's or 18's. You will be very happy. Stay away from wheel places that only deal in 20" or more wheels. Find some normal places that can still get 15" wheels.

The DONK look. Or even the large wheels with stock suspension is all about the appearance of money. Or more accurately, giving people the impression that you have money. And the sad thing is, people that don't know any better think that is the case. I would much rather roll an a set of high quality billet or forged wheels in a smaller size than some cheap cast and chromed Chinese wheels in a larger size. To the untrained eye, those big blingy wheels sure do look expensive. But relatively speaking there nothing but crap.

I have far more respect for the car or truck owner who has hundreds of hours in fabrication than the ghetto moron who throws what looks like thousands of dollars at a piece of crap car.

I start rolling when I see one of those hoopties with big wheels that are worth more than what they are bolted to.

Thats funny man because where i live many younger guys and all those that might be sellin illegal parephenelia ride around in older cars on huge rims most of the time the car is crap compared to how much the rims are worth but they still pick up lots of girls lol.
