Default trd shocks help

So last night i installed the new shocks/struts and when i took the well deserved ride around the block i now get a weird rubbing almost catching sound that only happens on rebound or so it seems. It got to dark to jack the car back up but im gonna check it out before i go to work in tomorrow. Thanks in advance for any suggestions since they are much needed at this point as i stare at my car with a blank stare.

it sounds like you didn't properly tighten the top strut nut.

thats what i thought at first but i cant tighten it anymore due to the fact that the strut rod itself spins which i dont remember happening before but its happening on these struts any pointers.

You must take the strut back apart. The strut rod is held still by the little metal plate that you place on top of the spring. This happened in my box. The whole spring came unseated and I had to redo that site. If the rod spins, you put it together incorrectly.

use a pair of channel locks to hold the strut rod still while you're putting on the top nut. (i have a piece of rubber to go in the jaws, prevents damage to the strutrod.

what is going on is that at the top of the frt struts it is flat right below the cup on top and the threads, so take it apart put the spring in and alline the cup with that flat spot on the strut the cup also has a flat spot so it fits perfect then tighten it down end of story. hope that helps ifnot PM for more info

alright problem solved let me update here. So what had happened is when i received the struts and shocks i tried tightening the nut down on the strut and it would goto a certain point which wasnt even enough for the threads to stick out the top of the nut. well of course riding on blown shocks for a week now i just wanted to get it done and over with well that lead to this post. so after feedback i took it all apart again couldnt tighten the strut nut down anymore said screw it and used the nut off the stock assembly which solved the problem. after comparing the nuts the new ones look more like lock ghetto lock nuts in the sense that the threads stop about halfway thru the nut. but the hole ordeal finished with me being two miutes late to work thats the part i like in the nic of time sort of thing. Thank you very much for the feedback as cheezy as this sounds can always depend on scionlife family
