Im running 17x7 in a 40 offset with a 215/40/17. I'm lowered on Gold-Lines, 2" drop, and have not had a single rubbing issue. I do not know about the 42 offset however. If you need to get the 42's, the go to http://www.onetongarage.com/products...cer/index.html and order the 5mm spacer. Simple to install and that should solve the problem. Hope this helps and good luck.

I have/had the same offset and tires on my Buddy Clubs. For the flush look, I'd recommend the OTG rear shims. That's what I had before I went camber and staggered fiot 18s.

Oh, I had to run 3 mm spacer rings, in the rear, before I had the OTG rear shims installed.

so the shims will replace the need for the 3mm spacers in addition to making it safer since the spacers makes the studs where the lug nuts go shorter?

Yes, when I installed the OTG shims, I didn't use the 3mm spacers.

When using spacer rings, make sure the lugnuts make 6 complete rotations so they can be torqued properly. Otherwise, longer studs will be needed.

You don't say what the wheel width is.

RogerTTR says this in another thread today:

"Our fitment team has approved 215/40R17's as a guaranteed trouble fee/rub free fitment for your xB providing you are running properly specified 17 X 7 or 7.5" wheels with offsets between 37 and 42mm's. For more information please feel free to call or visit our site at: http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=DJ1&url=index.jsp "

If your mounting on 17x7 or 17x7.5 and 42mm offset you look good to go with the 215/40/17 but if your trying to go 17x8 and 42mm your probably going to rub.
