I am running 215/40/17. I am not sure why they try and push the other size.

Moved to tread & butter

I think you can get the service department to recalbriate your wheels after it's put on.

Most shops stock 205/40-17 and 205/45-17 because that's the size for Honduhs.

I wanted to get 205-45's for my box but there are more tire choices in 215-40-17. The 205-45 gives you a little more sidewall and the narrower width MIGHT help a little on rolling resistance and gas milage. Go with the 215-40's!!!

215/40/17 here

most tire shops don't think they will fit on our car.

Yeah, 215/40-17s are great for the crappy roads we have up here in the Bay Area. I love those Neo Gens!

215/45/17 Because I wanted more rubber between the
Chicago Pot Holes and the road. I ordered online and have
no issues.

215.40.17 on my xA.

Biggest difference between the correct size and one size up or down is price. It's an odd size, so it costs a lot more. Maybe that's why they think you want something different.
